Database Analyst

The Database Analyst will focus on the technical management and support of the database application, implementation, development and testing. The incumbent will work within an understanding of a project management framework planning, managing and executing software implementations.The Database Analysts requires a service oriented mentality with a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned. Focus should be on managing and resolving issues and establishing and maintaining communication with staff.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Technology Management of database
- Development testing and implementation of database
- Database mining and trend and statistical analysis
- Back up support for the Network Administration
- Responsible for administering servers including installations, configuration, monitoring, reporting and backups to ensure optimal performance and availability
- Ensure corporate data is secured in accordance with IT security policies
- Setting up and testing new database and data handling systems
- Up- dating and amending databases
- Assisting with database design and development
- Designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation
- Training colleagues in how to input and extract data, ensuring that databases meet user requirements,
- Managing database security/integrity and backup procedures
- Defining objectives through consultation with staff at all levels
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and or equivalent experience (other combinations of education and experience may be considered)
- 2 to 4 years experience designing, developing and generating reports from a relational database
- Deep understanding of Data mining, Data modeling trend analysis
- Experience as a SQL Server database administrator is considered an asset
- Experience in a network computer environment
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of SPSS considered an asset
- Understanding of structured query language (SQL)
- Able to work as part of a team and independently
- Excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Demonstrates Functional Expertise
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Web/Software Applications
- Microsoft Access Database Applications
- Excellent physical and emotional health
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Clear Child Abuse Registry and Satisfactory Prior Contact checks
- Knowledge of aboriginal cultural diversity
