All completed forms and reference letters need to be returned to the Guidance Office by MARCH 1. We do not accept late applications. A Transcript and Schedule will be included by the guidance office. This application must be typed.
Parsons Educational Foundation (PEF) Scholarships
Objective Criteria List
The Objective Criteria List will provide you with the criteria to be evaluated. The point system for evaluating the applications in the different areas is as follows:
Phase One: I. 10 – ACT or SAT Composite Scores
II. 20 – Grade Point Average
III. 10 – Student’s Curriculum
IV. 30 – Financial Need
V. 30 – Extracurricular/Work Activities and Other
Total Points =100
The PEF Committee will interview twice the number of candidates as they have scholarships available.
Phase Two: Interview
Scoring Criteria:
I. Expression of Thought II. Organization of Thought
III. Content of Thought
IV. Desire to go to College
Total Points 40
Phase Three: Selection – is based on total points of phases one and two.
The following PEF scholarship has an additional requirement:
Students applying for the Agnes Coppedge Savage and Grace Coppedge White Memorial Scholarship(s) must have been in foster care or a group home for two years.
LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
CARRIE WILLIAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
1. Must be a senior at Parsons High School.
2. Must show financial need.
3. Must enroll at a four-year school or technical school as a full-time student
(12 hours or more).
4. Must have a 3.0 minimum high school cumulative grade point average.
5. Must provide 2 references – one from high school staff, one from non-school personnel.
6. Must be a people person with a positive attitude.
7. Winners will be decided by May 1 and announced by graduation.
8. The judges will evaluate applications using the following percentages
1. 10% ACT/SAT Composite Score
2. 15% Grade Point Average
3. 15% Strength of Curriculum
4. 15% Extracurricular/Work Activities
5. 45% Financial Need
PARSONS-NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
You must be a son or daughter of a teacher who is a member of P-NEA to apply for this scholarship.
PARSONS ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, character, leadership, and need. It can be used for any TWO-YEAR OR FOUR-YEAR SCHOOL IN KANSAS. Applicants must have an accumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. The award will be for $750.00 and is nonrenewable.

THE POWELL AWBREY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Powell Awbrey Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Awbrey by his family. He was a Parsons businessman, a civil engineer and a civic leader. The family wishes to encourage students with an interest in the study pre-engineering. Any graduating member of the senior class of Parsons High School is eligible to apply. The award is to be made on the basis of acceptable academic achievements, character, and leadership.
The scholarship was available beginning with the graduating class of 1987. The following applies:
1. The student shall have a grade point average of 3.0 through
the first seven semesters of high school.
2. The student will state an intent to pursue a Bachelor’s
Degree from a Kansas four-year institution in engineering.
3. The student has demonstrated leadership ability through
involvement in activities.
The scholarship will be the amount of earned interest (approximately $500) and will be paid to the college or university upon proof of enrollment.
The scholarship is for one year and is nonrenewable.

Voguettes Scholarship
· Must be a senior at Parsons High School
· Must enroll at a 2-year or 4-year institution as a full-time student
· Must have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4 point system
Voguettes II Scholarship
· Must be an African American senior at Parsons High School
· Must enroll at a 2-year or 4-year institution as a full-time student
· Must have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4 point system
