1. Narrative Writing Unit: Ideas—Focusing the Topic

- Review prompt options from Discovery Education.
- Have students select a topic, research, brainstorm, and complete a plot development map for their topic.
1. Cold Read CFA (test grade) on:
- elements of a story (RL 7.3)
- compare and contrast fictional and historical accounts (RL 7.9)
- analyze how multiple authors writing on the same topic shapes key information (RI 7.9)
- narrative writing (W 7.3)
- finish plot development map and work on rough draft of story
1. Students will write their narrative based on one of the 3 given prompts:
- Science Fiction
- Good vs. Evil
- Personal Narrative
This will count as a Major grade.

2. Twilight Zone episode “Eye of the Beholder”:
- Introduce vocabulary from the episode (L 7.4)
- Watch episode, stopping to discuss theme and analyzing its development over the course of the story (RL 7.2)
- Write an objective summary of the episode.
