Parent Google Classroom Sign Up & Subscription

** If you would like to have direct access to the Google Classroom where class materials can be found, not just the Calendar, you will need to email me () with the name of your child and your email. Your child must already be joined to our Google Classroom for this to work. **

Example: I would like to sign up for your Google Classroom. My child’s name is John Smith and my email is

Parents: Subscribing to the Class Google Calendar(** You must have a Google account.)

Parents, this will allow you to sync the class calendar with your Google Calendars. This means all of our assignments and events will pop up on your Google Calendar. (You can also sync the calendar on your smartphone through the Google Calendar app but you will need to Google how to do this):

  1. Sign into Google and open Google Calendar.
  2. On the left hand side, find “Other Calendar” and click the down arrow.
  3. Select “Add by URL.”
  4. Enter this URL:
  1. Click Add calendar. Now you can see on your calendar when assignments and homework are due.

Signing up for Text Alerts for Calendar Events

** I HIGHLY recommend your student to sign up to receive text alerts as well.**

This will allow you to receive text alerts for events on your Google Calendar. You must already be subscribed to our class calendar in order to sign up for text alerts. Note, if you have Google calendars other than Environmental Science synced to your Google account, you will also receive messages for events on those calendars as well (unless you turn off notifications for those calendars).

  1. Sign into Google and open Google Calendar.
  2. In the top right, click the Settings icon> Settings > Mobile Setup.
  3. Add your country and phone number.
  4. ClickSend Verification Code.
  5. When you get the text message, enter the code you received in the Verification code box.
  6. ClickFinish setup.
  7. Choose what you want to get notified about, and when.
  8. At the bottom of the page, clickSave.
