Task:

Materials: Worksheet, strip of paper ( receipt tape, sticky tape etc)
Have students cut apart the individual worksheets one sheet at a time. Use each worksheet for a different activity.
Option 1 Show the four activities you might do – clap your hands, take a bath, watch a movie, wash your hands. Which activity would take you the longest time to do? Have student s place “Least” and “Most” cards at each end of the paper. Put the four activity cards in order, from the least activity time to the most activity time Glue them on the paper in that order. Have the students explain their thinking. .
Option 2: Show the four destinations or places you might go. – the gym, the zoo, the tot lot/playground and the coat room/hooks. Which place would take you the longest time to reach from the classroom? Have students place “Least” and “Most” cards at each end of the paper. Put the four cards in order, from the least travel time to the most travel time. Glue them on the paper in that order. Have the students explain their thinking.
Extension: On the blank cards have students draw two destinations or activities of their own choice and order all six cards from the least time to the most time. Glue them on the paper in that order. Have the students explain their thinking. (Students may also insert their pictures on their continuum.
