Education and training
Essential
- Maths and English to grade A – C or equivalent.
 - Able to demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
 
Desirable
- A level three qualification or above.

- Knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel and Power Point.
 - A competent use of Outlook and the internet.
 - Ability to use computerised monitoring systems.
 
Experience and knowledge

- At least one year’s experience of working with domestic violence issues.
 - Experience and understanding of risk assessment in relation to domestic violence and abuse
 - A good understanding of the nature of domestic violence and abuse and its effects on victims and children.
 - An understanding of the impact of domestic violence and abuse on children and parenting.
 - An understanding of why some perpetrators use abusive behaviours towards their partners in relationships.
 - Experience of managing own workload and administration.
 - An understanding of safeguarding, child protection and responsibilities in relation to information sharing.
 - Experience of partnership and multi agency working to improve responses to domestic violence and safeguarding, and liaising with other professionals.
 - An understanding of the additional possible needs of those experiencing domestic violence from BME and LGBT communities.
 
Desirable
- An understanding of risk factors in working with perpetrators of domestic abuse.
 - Experience of working with perpetrators on the issues of violence and abuse towards their partners.
 - An understanding of the criminal justice system in relation to domestic violence and abuse and other legal options available to those experiencing domestic abuse.
