Hobart Montessori Bushschoolers
A Montessori inspired bush school group for 4-8yr homeschoolers in the Hobart area.
We meet weekly (Wednesday 9:30-12:30) in a number of selected locations around Hobart ranging from bush reserve to beach.
Each session will be playful and exploratory allowing children to discover and creatively engage with the natural world around them in a variety of hands-on ways.
At the beginning of each session a prompt/theme and a set of natural materials and (art) supplies will be provided to support creative process and discussion. Children will be encouraged to express themselves and explore their ideas.
Activities will range from free-play to bushwalking, fauna/flora spotting, building, gardening, making fire, cooking, refining gross and fine motor skills, cultural & environmental studies and many more but always in tune with the seasons.
The sessions are parent facilitated but child led, respectful of the children's interests and ability to self-direct within the environment provided.
What to bring:

Hobart Home Education Group
The Hobart Home Education Group has been established for a number of years to cater to the needs of home educators in the Hobart area. It is a dynamic group that incorporates many different learning styles and methods, together with many social and educational opportunities. There are many groups associated with HHEG offering people the possibility to constantly grow and expand their learning opportunities.
We also have a regular newsletter that allows students the opportunity to share by ‘publishing’ their work and achievements. This can be anything from projects completed, awards attained or experiences gained during an outings, holidays, and stories and/or other written work. Parents can contribute useful techniques, websites; any information that they find helpful and feel they want to share.
We offer regular outings/events where all are welcome to participate. These can be socially and/or educationally driven allowing students experiences and alternatives to complement their learning and/or just to have fun and meet like-minded people. For example, last year some of our events covered various theatrical and musical performances, excursions to various venues such as science centres, museums, various sporting and outdoor learning opportunities and social events. This year we plan to continue hands on science opportunities, sporting opportunities including subsidised swimming lessons twice a year, regular social meets together with various other events organised or advertised by members. Huon Valley Homeschoolers – monthly Fridays
We are a group of homeschoolers in 'The Huon Area '. We get together on the last Friday of every month from 11am until 3pm.
We meet at the Ranelagh Showground (very easy to find , you can even Google map it to make it really easy). There is a big hall for keeping toddlers in and for rainy days, an adjoining kitchen for tea making, a large oval for playing and games, a cricket net and large bitumen area for scooters and roller blades, etc. The children can bring their bikes, scooters, balls, cricket bats etc. Our children range from 1 week to 16 plus. We mums drink far too much tea and catch up on home school chit chat. We have a few boxes of books which we share and exchange. If you are interested in an informal, unstructured, social day for you and your children, then you are welcome to come along. We contribute $5 per family towards hall hire and power costs (this can be negotiable). You can call for more details if you like - Samantha 6297 6177.
Hobart Natural Learners Co-op
We are going to meet weekly on Thursdays this term, 10am to 2pm. Even numbered weeks are at the cottage on Batchelor Way, Taroona, inside the fenced playground. Odd numbered weeks are excursions announced on our FB group (Hobart Natural Learners Co-op) with the finer details posted there. Current age range is 1-13 years.
We have an exciting list of activities planned for term 1.
We’ll start off with a games day at the cottage this Thursday, 10 - 2 (please note the time change from last year). Bring along any games you’d like to play or share!
New and casual families are welcome, with a $4 per family casual fee (for cottage days only) or a $30 membership fee for the whole term - all to be paid to the co-op’s PayPal. Some activities attract an additional cost. ️
Cottage days are at the playground area next to the Taroona community hall on Bachelor Way.

Kentish Mountain Learners Group
We meet alternate Monday's at 10.30 --1.30pm usually, but not always, in The Sheffield Community Garden during summer and in the Sheffield Uniting Church Hall during winter. We organise a variety of themed activity days including in the past year an Indian Day, bird watching, singing and gardening. The group enjoys the guidance of a Physical Education teacher who has taught us many large group outdoor games. The Community Garden borders a park with paths for rollerblading and a bike park for bikes and scooters as well as a boules pitch and bbq. There are 2 car parks to access the Garden, one is at the Health Centre and one is beside the Information Centre. All welcome. Enquiries to Alison on or Sally Mineur
North West Home Education
We have been meeting every Friday at Otto’s Grotto, Dial Road, Ulverstone, from 11am onwards.
Past activities have included swimming lessons, activities with PCYC, garden/book/stuff swaps, and a concert. The group has attended various shows provided for schools – science, music, drama, etc., and visited places like the fire station, police station, law courts, council, etc.
The group has a diverse range of children from preschool to teens.

Launceston Home Education Group
We meet every Wednesday usually from 12-3. The 1st Wednesday of the month is at St Catherine's Hall in Norwood and the rest of the month is dependent on the activities we have organised.

We also have a Facebook page if people are interested in looking us up on Facebook - is the web address but if they look for Launceston Home Ed group in the search bar you’ll be able to also find us that way. To join the group, you will need to answer a couple of questions before admin approves your join so that it is kept local and a safe space for the community and children.

- Hobart Natural Learners - A group bringing together home educating families in the greater Hobart area who follow a natural learning, relaxed homeschooling or unschooling path. A co-operative group of active members within the group meet regularly to share in activities and provide real-life support and community for our families. Meets are somewhat relaxed, but we usually undertake an activity of some sort. Members are invited to take turns to share or lead an activity or experience with other families there. Children are also encouraged to set and lead activities. Sometimes we meet with no particular activity in mind and see where the day leads us… We also have a small patch of our own at the local neighbourhood garden that families are encouraged to tend and share in the rewards! Membership costs $30 per family per season, to be paid up front, or casual visits are $4 per family. It is intended that regular members attend most weeks and become part of and contribute to our co-op community. Fees cover venue hire and our community garden membership. Specialty organised workshops may incur an additional fee. All meets are covered by insurance. Families currently attending have children of a range of ages from babies through to grade 7, although all ages are warmly welcome.
