4th April 2017 Meeting

ACTRRA Representative Owen Keane:

  • 12 April – is the next Concussion Blue Card Trial Presentation run by Chief medical officer Warren McDonald &/or Steve Freeman. At least 1 member of club must attend.
  • ARU motto: If in doubt, sit it out. main focus is about protecting the player and their interest.
  • Match Day Sheet must reflect a ‘B’ if the player is taken off because off concussion.
  • For further education, there are several concussion applications on World Rugby and smartphone applications.
  • Proposed Concussion 1hr Workshops at the following locations in April/May

  • Please be aware of new 2017 Law Changes: Ball into touch – please review ARU website.

Brumbies Raffle Damien Tyson:

  • Brumbies incentive for $50 of each ticket purchase to come back to local clubs.
  • Large prizes including trip to All Blacks vs Lions Tour, Helicopter trip to Waiheke Island, and also cash prizes.

Education & WorkshopsMartin Sullivan:

  • FAIR courses World Rugby Level 1: They have run 3 courses to date which gives you accreditation in WRL1 and First aid.
  • ACTJRU focus to have at least 1 person in every club team to have this accreditation.
  • The course feescan also be refundedby the ACTJRU if you complete course.
  • Proposed Courses to run at the following locations and dates

Batemans Bay/Moruya – Sunday 14th May includes Concussion Blue Card.

Sunday 7th May – Goulbourn (Trinity college – Jess Hand to advise)

Tuesday 18thApril 6-10pm & Wednesday 19thApril 6-10pm – Canberra Brumbies HQ.

Empower Rugby Martin Sullivan:

  • Miss-information about their partnership – Confirming they are a separate entity.
  • Martin to follow up with Uni Norths about acting in good faith.

Competition Greg Baynham

  • Game sanctioning to include Greg, Irene and Zac
  • We are still chasing team nominations. Please put in nominations a.s.a.p. & coach/managers contact, first aid, WWVP.
  • Game day booklets will not be issued out until all team nominations are confirmed.
  • Rep Trialsinformation will be available online & emailed to all.
  • Request for Adult Referees needed in the U15/U16 age group.

Girls Competition Greg Baynham/ Victoria Robertson:

  • Promising 6-8 teams in each age group 14/15 division and 16/17 division
  • Girls will follow alongside boy’s competition with Grand Finals.
  • 2 Year Dispensation window still applies.
  • The missing age group Girls U13 is a delicate situation. Motion for dispensation to encourage girls in the U13 Range to potentially play in the Boys division.
  • Discounted rate for Girls U13 mixed gender & Girls U13-U17, still applies.
  • Free Girls clinic promotion on the 12th and 19th April during school holiday.
