INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL AUTHORS (8.16)
Allauthors face challengesin getting their work published but authors who work and write outside theUnited Stateswhether in an English-speaking country or not, face special challenges. Even those who are recognized dog experts in their own country and have a best-selling dog book need to take extra steps in order to succeed in the American market. Here is some practical information you’ll need when you are making a publishing proposal to Dogwise.
Make it easy for Dogwise to evaluate your book
Dogwise Publishing has a two-part submission process. The first part asks that you send us a brief description of your idea or book in a format we call a “Pre-submission.” It allows you to give us a short summary of your book or idea, along with information about yourself so that we can determine whether we think your book would be a good fit for our publishing program.
If we think the idea has potential we will send you the second part of the submission process which is our “Full submission” guidelines document. The Full submission will give you the opportunity to expand on your idea and provide us with a lot more information about you, your work and your vision for the book.
Dogwise Publishing accepts submissions in English only. We do not provide translation services at the submission stage and we need to have enough content in English in order to evaluate your work. You may be fortunate enough to find local resources for translating your work among your friends, students or professional associates.
Building your American audience
All authors need to build their audience of potential book buyers by lecturing, speaking at conferences, networking at professional events, leading webinars, using social media and writing for the American market.Thismeans being able to present in English. If you already have fans inAmericaor professional relationships with recognized American experts, be sure you highlight those connections in your submission.Click here to read a short essay“How to succeed as a dog book author” for more ideas about building yourUSaudience
