Dear Parents/Guardians:
We invite you to attend our annual Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31,2016, at 2:15 p.m. Most children and some of the staff will wear costumes.
As in the past we encourage that children in kindergarten through grade four who plan to wear a costume go home for lunch at 12:45 p.m., dress at home, and return to school by 2;00 p.m. (Pre-K will stay in school). If you cannot pick up your child to go home at 12:45 p.m., you may have your child carry the costume to school (please do not have the child wear it). He or she will have ample time to eat lunch and get dressed. We ask that the primary youngsters’ costumes be as simple to put together as possible. Toy weapons are not permitted. If your child’s costume comes with one please keep the “weapon” at home. We also ask that children do not have their faces painted with any type of paint, as many youngsters have allergic reactions to make-up. Students will be permitted to wear masks at school but they need to have eye holes that are adequate to see through and air holes sufficient to breathe through.
Parade Route: The youngsters will parade from the door near the playground and then around the front of the building to the door near the cafeteria on the Lenox Avenue side of the building. Parents, grandparents, friends and relatives are all welcome. If it rains, we will follow the contingency plan below.
Contingency Plans for Halloween Parade, Monday, October 31, 2016.
In the event of inclement weather, we will hold the Halloween Parade inside the school. We will have Pre-K, K and 1st graders, followed by 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders, parade in the gymnasium.
2:15 p.m. – Pre-K, K, and Grade 1 will parade in the gymnasium. Parents are asked to stand in the middle of the gymnasium, as the students will circle around them. The students will parade around three times and then head off to Halloween parties in their classrooms.
2:35 p.m. – Grades 2, 3 and 4 will begin their parade. After children parade, they will return to their classrooms for parties.
Only classroom parents are permitted to attend the parties.
PARENTS: Due to the concern for the safety of all involved, please DO NOT bring strollers inside the school.
We look forward to seeing you at the I. E. F. School Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 2:15.
Sincerely,
Susan Wardell, Principal
