TODAY’S PROGRAM
Mark Breen, Fairbanks Museum & Rotary Planetarium
Charlie Browne introduced Mark Breen. Mark reminded the Club it was the St Johnsbury Rotary Club’s efforts 50 years ago that made the Planetarium possible. The Model they have is one of only 100 produced, and as far as he knows, is the oldest continuously operating one in the World!
They have hosted over 800,000 visitors throughout the last 50 years!
Upcoming programs include: Extra Terrestrials, The Messenger Spacecraft, Celebration of 50 years of the Space Program, The Name Game, and Mark is hoping for a visit from a NASA representative.
The new website coming will have many star charts and other great features. Watch for the interaction with the Peacham telescope as well.
The book, Even Silence has an End, by Ingrid Bettecourt, was donated to the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum in honor of Mark’s presentation to the Club.
