Course Description

Sixth grade mathematics builds on prior knowledge gained in previous grades and applies it to continuing and new concepts. On a daily basis, students using CPM Core Connections employ problem solving strategies, question, investigate, analyze critically, gather and construct evidence, and communicate rigorous arguments to justify their thinking.

Grading Scale

  • A 90-100%
  • B 80-89%
  • C 70-79%
  • D 60-69%
  • F 59% and below
  • I incomplete—there is not adequate information to assess learning

Additional Grading Policy

Review & Preview (homework) is assigned daily

  • While this does not count towards the final grade, it is expected to be completed to maximize the learning experience
  • The final grade will be based off of assessments only
  • Any assessments below a 70% must be corrected and retested

Absences

It is important for students to be at school every day. In the event of an absence, students need to speak with their teacher about the instruction and assignments they missed. This may require scheduling a time to receive instruction missed to not create holes in their learning.

Behavior Expectations

Citizenship/Behavior is highly valued as students represent themselves, our school, and the community. Grades are given based on their ability to follow the 3 R’s: Respect, Responsibility, and Ready to Learn. Grades for this are given as 4, 3, 2, or 1 according to the rubric. The rubric is available on the WMS website, or you can pick one up in the office.
