Piezo pickups are some of the best pickups to get that “true blues tone.” These piezo pickups are sunk (insolated) in bottle caps. To install the pickup, mount the silver side of the bottle cap to the inside of the box using some hot glue (for best results). They are normally installed directly underneath the bridge to pick up the most intense vibration… but there are no rules for where you need to put it!
If you wish to install frets or mark fret indicators, you can use for free an online fret calculator or manually mark off where each note is supposed to change.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
· Dust Mask + Goggles (safety first!)
· Ruler
· Saw
· Screwdriver/Power Drill
· drill bit (sound holes)
· ¾’’ drill bit (input jack)
· Hot glue gun or adhesive substitute to mount pickup
· Wood glue
TOOLS OPTIONAL:
· Sandpaper
· Files
· Clamps
Assemble in 7 easy steps!
Step One:
Measure out the desired length of the neck, (cut if needed).
Step Two:
Mark off on the cigar box where you wish the neck to be and cut out the space (1’’ circle). Clamp or secure the neck to the inside of the box and glue the fretboard down to the top of the neck using the wood glue, then let dry.
Step Three:
Drill holes for the tuning pegs, sound holes, and electric input.
Step Four:
Glue down piezo pickup.
Step Five:
Screw down the hinge (saddle) then glue down the bridge and nut.
Step Six:
String it up.
Step Seven:
ROCK!
