ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATIONS
The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) is a national organization of professional estate planners and affiliated estate planning councils focused on establishing and monitoring the highest professional and educational standards. NAEPC believes in the team approach to estate planning, involving cross-professional disciplines, to better serve the public’s need.
The NAEPC Education Foundation was formed in 2005 with the purpose of enhancing the educational processfor all members of the estate planning team and for the general public those practitioners serve. Its primary focus is assisting the affiliated local estate planning councils that are members of NAEPC in their public outreach efforts. The NAEPC Education Foundation’s signature event, National Estate Planning Awareness Week, takes place the third full week in October of each calendar year.

NAEPC Mission Statement
It is the mission of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils to: Promote the multi-disciplinary approach to estate planning by supporting local estate planning councils and their members and by encouraging the formation of new councils.
To that end we are committed to:
- Encourage attainment of the Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) and Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) designations by qualified estate planning professionals.
- Support efforts of the NAEPC Foundation to increase public awareness of the importance of estate planning by a team of professional advisors.
NAEPC Vision Statement
The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) will be the association of choice for professionals engaged in the practice of estate planning because:
- Unsurpassed education and networking opportunities are provided by attending local council meetings and NAEPC’s Annual National Conference; and
- The public demands its estate planners bear earned and recognized credentials, including the Accredited Estate Planner® designation (AEP®), conferred only by NAEPC and the Estate Planning Law Specialist designation (EPLS), conferred only by the NAEPC affiliate Estate Law Specialist Board. Both designations are among the few that meet this qualification.

Launched September 2013, the Robert G. Alexander Webinar Series offers online programs on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm ET. Each program provides one hour of Accredited Estate Planner® designation credit and offers subject matter in support of our core value, the multi-disciplinary approach to estate planning.

NAEPC-ADMINISTEREDPROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS
Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®)
The Accredited Estate Planner®designation is available to attorneys, Chartered Life Underwriters®, Certified Public Accountants, Certified Trust and Financial Advisors, Chartered Financial Consultants®, and Certified Financial Planners®. The AEP® designation is awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils to professionals who meet stringent experience and education qualifications including two graduate level courses administered by The American College.
Affiliated local estate planning councils have the privilege of utilizing the Council Nominated AEP® program. Information about this program can be obtained by calling the national office.
Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS)
The Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc., an attorney-run subsidiary of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils, is the only ABA-accredited program for certification of an attorney as an Estate Planning Law Specialist. Attorneys who become Board-certified under this program demonstrate a high level of professionalism and commitment to the concept of specialization. This program is currently the only program, other than certain state bar association programs which are only for residents of their particular states, accredited by the American Bar Association to Board-certify attorneys as Estate Planning Law Specialists.
