Subj:Nominations for the MG John Ricottilli Outstanding Junior Officer Award

The Rhode Island Department of the Reserve Officers Association continues to sponsor the MG John Ricottilli Outstanding Junior RIROA Officer Award presented annually at the Department’s Executive Committee Installation. The award was established to recognize a junior Reserve/Guard Officer who has demonstrated outstanding support to the ROA and our national security and who best exemplifies the superior leadership qualities and dedication of the citizen-soldier as demonstrated by MG Ricottilli throughout his distinguished career.

The Executive Committeewill be accepting nomination packets from all Reserve/Guard units and ROA Department Officers for this award until 30 April. The award which has traditionally been an official and appropriate service saber, will be presented By MG Ricottilli in a fitting ceremony.

The nomination procedures are as follows:

  1. Nominee must be a member of the RI Department, ROA with a valid ROA membership number which must be indicated with the nomination packet.
  2. Nominee must hold the rank of Captain (O3) or service equivalent or below.
  3. Nomination packets should consist of:
  4. A letter from the nominating officer explaining why the nominee should receive the award and how the nominee has demonstrated the leadership qualities and dedication exemplified by MG Ricottilli;
  5. A biographical summary of the nominee including military, civilian and ROA achievements;
  6. A recent full length photo of the nominee in uniform(does not have to be official)
