(Earley Adopt-a-Street Initiative)
Does litter annoy you, especially along your road? Well, you may have heard of EASI: we are an expanding group of more than 200 people across Earley who have volunteered to litter-pick their own streets, for everyone’s benefit (and it helps deter the litter-droppers).
Would you like to join in and help, by looking after your street? Or just a section of it, or maybe a close or two, or a nearby path – whatever seems manageable to you (and assuming it isn’t already being looked after)? If you are interested do please get in touch soon. Our target is to have all of Earley covered by the end of 2012!
By going out whenever it suits you, for perhaps half an hour a week, you will be fighting the litter plague in a way our councils can’t possibly do. Instead, they support us by providing litter-picking tools and yellow vests, also gloves and special green bags (unless you think you will have enough spare blue bags to take the litter?) which are then collected along with your weekly rubbish.
So will you phone one of us: Brian Hackett (986 1115) or Peter Soul (926 4997), to say you’ll have a go? You will be helping with a worthwhile task – and one that can actually be very satisfying!
