You will be working in groups of three to design a game or activity for the Math Fair. Each group will be responsible for creating an activity that can be adapted for three different levels K-2, 3-5, and 6-7. How will the rules change from one group to the next? Will you be able to do the exact same thing for K that you will for 7th grade? Your group will submit a write-up, create a poster board, and present your activity in front of the entire 8th grade, as well as run it on the day of the Math Fair (May 22).

Your group will need to acquire all of the materials needed for your activity to run successfully. You are allowed to use one table and chairs from the gym.

Some Math Fair ideas from the past include a Math Obstacle Course, a version of musical chairs, a “Steal the Bacon” type of game, 10,000, anda card game involving probability. All activities have to be math related and should be creative, unique, and fun.

No food or candy is allowed to be a part of your Math Fair station. As we’ve done in the past, the Fair will be held outside.

Your tri-fold posterboard should contain a catchy title for your activity, instructions, a list of materials, and examples.

You will be graded on the creativity and preparation of your activity, your presentation to the class, your write up, the visual appeal and content of your posterboard, and the management of your activity on the day of the Math Fair.

This is a group grade. Each member of your group will receive the same grade. If we notice that one person is doing all or most of the work, the entire group will be docked. It is important that you choose group members responsibly.
