The Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center is a Four Diamond property and has 1,069 guest rooms. In each room: hair dryer, iron, ironing board, coffee/tea maker, radio alarm, TV, wireless internet, two double beds, two queen beds or one King with pillow top bedding. They have a safe in each room for your valuables. Small refrigerators are in each room. There is a full service fitness center, outdoor heated pool & jacuzzi, sun deck & Serenity Spa. There are several restaurants in the hotel, some are open 24 hours, concierge desk, gift shop, computer station, business center and a dry cleaning/laundry service. CNN Center is inside your location. Centennial Olympic Park is across the street as is the World of Coke and the Georgia Aquarium. Within minutes walk there are many downtown businesses available for dining, shopping or tours. As a courtesy to your hotel maid, it is now a common practice to leave your maid on your pillow a $1 per person tip per day to clean your room. As many of you know some of your rooms are a mess and this is cheap for what they have to clean around to keep your room clean on a daily basis.
Items you will need on trip: debit/ATM cards are safer then cash, swim suit & cover up, camera name on it or in the case, insurance card or information, comfortable travel clothes, shorts, tennis shoes, sunglasses, sun screen, light jacket, poncho/umbrella, cell phone and charger. A note on cell phones, be courteous in the use of these & shut them off during meetings and at night time, so they don’t disturb your roommates who are trying to sleep. Please pay particular attention to your carry on luggage. If you have liquid items in your carry on luggage, they have to be in a clear quart size zip-lock plastic bag and each liquid item can not be in a bottle larger then 3.4 oz. If you are not sure about an item put it in your checked in luggage. Check it out on Remember to bring enough spending money with you to cover two-three meals per day, extra fun things and souvenirs. We recommend $50-75 per day for these things. We will be providing 1 meal on this trip. As a suggestion bring small snack items with you to cut down your spending for these items.
The following are some of the things we should all be aware of while we are away from our normal and safe surroundings. When traveling it is always safer to go in-groups of two or more, never go somewhere by your self even for just minutes; it is not safe or wise. Do not leave anything without someone watching it; there are people who are just waiting for someone to leave something unattended. The airport, stores or hotels are the perfect place to get ripped off. Tourists are easy prey. If you are going to carry a purse or camera make sure it has straps so it goes around you. There are people who have set their purse down for just a minute and turned around and it is gone. This advice goes for everywhere. Protect your money and other valuables at all times do not leave unguarded, use the hotel safe to protect your valuables or give your extra cash, debit/ATM cards to your adviser for safekeeping.
If you know of something that we need to know, please don’t hesitate to tell an advisor. We do not want to hear about it after something bad happens. Remember you are representing yourself, your school and North Dakota FCCLA.
The dress code will be strictly enforced for all general sessions at the NLC. Delegates not adhering to the code will not be admitted to the general sessions at the NLC.
You will want to wear comfortable clothing for traveling and while in Atlanta as the weather will be hot and humid. Make sure you drink water every day, especially when you are outside as you can get dehydrated very quickly in the high heat and humidity.
This is a great destination for a conference & with the right attitude you will have a great time while staying in a very nice Four Diamond hotel while attending the NLC.
Good Luck and have a great time!
