What makes a person good or bad? Is it their environment or how they were raised? What defines a person as a hero or a villain?
After you have completed the challenge below, you will be expected to both present and defend your findings to review board of your social and academic peers.
The Challenge:
Analyze the character of Victor Frankenstein and diagnose his overall mental state by exploring various mental diseases/disorders as defined in Psychological texts.
Group Member Assignments
Collaboration Consultant- responsible for merging the overall ideas of the group, scheduling, editing of and verification of all materials (MLA Specialist)
Research Analyst-responsible for research synthesis and group education of researched materials
Media Master-responsible for the actual creation of the group presentation
Group sizes will vary; however, all positions must be recorded, assigned and completed. In some cases 2 group members may be responsible for one position.
o As a member of this group you will psychoanalyze the character of Victor Frankenstein.
o A brief synopsis of the character should be given.
o You must identify and utilize both direct and indirect characterization as provided by the speaker to determine Victor Frankenstein’s mental state.
o Your findings must be verified by incorporating basic research in the field of Psychology.
o Special attention should be paid to the following diseases/disorders: Bipolar Disorder, Anti-Social Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Sociopath Disorder.
o Your diagnoses will need to be rooted in the character’s behavior and traits and your research into the diseases/disorders listed above.
o In addition, your diagnosis will need to be supported by critiques offered in peer reviewed articles.
o Peer reviewed articles can be found through independent library and/or internet research; however, when used, the research will need to be properly documented using MLA in order to avoid a plagiarism charge.
Plagiarized work will not receive credit and violators will be doomed for life with no hope of college admittance.
o By the end of this challenge you and your group will present a multimedia presentation that will academically support your answer to the 2015 Driving Question.
o The media type utilized in your group presentation should be decided on by the group.
o Visuals should either be supplied to members of the review board or should be clearly presented and easily seen by the review board.
o Presentations should be between 10-15 minutes in length.
o All group members should participate in the presentation.
o Although presentations will be given by groups, grades will be based on individual performance.
