Jayne: You know my cousins Colin and Tam? They’re bringing their famous spring rolls. Katie from work is coming too.

Angie: Is she making those great Thai meatballs?

Jayne: No, she isn’t. She’s too busy today.

6. ACTIVITY IDEA to match dialogue “Invitations”
The following activity is just one idea. Feel free to adjust or replace it with another idea.

Topic: Making Arrangements
Grammar Aim: Will (future prediction) / Present Continuous (future)
Communicative aim: Students will chat informally while extending an invitation.

Procedure:
Do a demonstration of the role play with you as Student A. Get a confident student to be Student B card. Perhaps swap places and redo the demo. Otherwise you can demonstrate bv playing both parts.
Hand out the Student A and B role cards. Check that the students understand the matching dialogue parts.
Take up: Ask who accepted and who declined and why.
