The Adjudication panel were notified of any withdrawals and name changes.
The adjudication panel considered a requestto be reinstated from candidate who was removed from provisional list due to not following the correct nomination process. The panel ruled that it would be unfair to reinstate the candidate now that the provisional candidate list had gone up. The candidate was encouraged to stand for any positions that would be by-elected or co-opted in future.
The adjudication panel considered a complaint regarding early campaigning via social media. The candidate was asked to remove the social media posts by 4pm and did so. No further action was taken.
Adjudication Panel 22.02.18
The Adjudication Panel met once the online manifesto deadline passed.
The adjudication panel ruled that candidates who had submitted their plain text manifesto but in the wrong format be given an extended deadline until 12noon 23.02.18 to submit the correct format.
Candidate submitted mitigating circumstances for not being able to upload their manifesto on time and the adjudication panel accepted this.
Candidate struggled to upload their plain text manifesto and emailed it to the democracy office explaining they struggled to upload. The adjudication panel ruled that they would accept the plain text manifesto and upload it.
One candidate did not upload a plain text manifesto but did not send in mitigating circumstances or an explanation for the failure to upload. The panel ruled the candidate be fined £5 and has been given an extended deadline until 12noon 23.02.18. They have been informed of the appeals process.
One candidate manifesto had a video including an endorsement from an SU representative. They have been asked to remove the endorsement by 12noon 23.02.18.
One candidate raised concerns about the presentation of their election manifesto in The Boar. The Panel deemed that that the SU has no creative control over the Boar but will bring this issue to the attention of the election and democracy review that will be done at the end of the year.
Adjudication panel 23.02.18
The Adjudication panel considered a complaint regarding early campaigning viayoutube videos being public. The candidate, along with other candidates who also had public youtube videos, were asked to make sure the videos were private/ unlisted by 3:30pm and make sure they were not shared and did so. No further action was taken.
Adjudication panel 26.02.18
Multiple complaints regarding early campaigning. Candidates who were deemed to have been campaigning early were fined £3.
Complaint regarding the use of a past campaign page. The panel ruled that as there are no current rules on this it was not unfair and no action was taken. The panel suggested this gets included in the election review.
Complaint regarding early campaigning in the form of a banner up before 9am had no action taken as there was no evidence this was up before 9am and it appeared the banner had been covered up buthad probably fallen down.
