COURSE DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour course is a collaborative training program taught by police and fire instructors that is designed to bring law enforcement and fire service leadership together to provide nationally recognized best practices and strategies regarding the management, deployment and utilization of Rescue Task Forces during active threat critical incidents.
This course should be attended by Police & Fire Department Chiefs, Deputy Chiefs, Shift Supervisors and Command Personnel. We highly recommend that representatives from the police and fire departments covering the same jurisdiction attend together. This is truly a Unified Command operational concept where both departments have to work cohesively.
This course is designed to define roles, responsibilities, and operational procedures to support a Rapid Deployment Rescue Task Force response during an active shooter type event. The course will allow police and fire commanders the opportunity to work in partnership and practice the operational skills sets required to manage this type of an event in a classroom setting. Real world examples, simulations and tabletop exercises will be utilized to practice the communication, operational skill sets and coordination required to manage the deployment of Rescue Task Forces.
COURSE GOALS:
- Provide participants a suggested structure for the command and control of an active shooter event using a unified command process.
- Provide participants an understanding of the Rescue Task Force concept and philosophy.
- Provide participants an understanding of Rescue Task Force responsibilities, tactics, techniques and strategies.
