Dysart High School

April 21, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians of the Dysart High School Class 2015:

We are quickly approaching the end of your child’s high school experience, culminating with our commencement ceremony at the University of Phoenix Stadium. During the next couple of weeks it is important that our seniors remain focused and attend school every day.

Enclosed are important documents that will assist parents in preparing for the graduation experience. Receiving this letter does not guarantee participation in the commencement ceremony. A student’s graduation status is determined by the student’s final transcript, which includes senior final exams on May 14th and 15th.

Below are a few important reminders about graduation and the events leading up to the ceremony:

·  The 2015 Graduation will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Phoenix Stadium, 1 Cardinals Drive Glendale, AZ 85305. Handicapped parking is located in the North Preferred (NP); a handicap placard or plate is required to enter the NP lot. Tickets are not required to attend the graduation ceremony.

over gown, no other adornment/additions are allowed. Students may not add any

decorations or statements to the mortar board of their cap.

·  Graduates are not to bring or carry anything during graduation (cell phones, sunglasses, cameras or purses, etc.) They should leave these items with a parent or other guest prior to entering through Gate 2. It will be confiscated if brought through Gate 2. We are not responsible for the security of the confiscated items.

·  The University of Phoenix Stadium does not allow signs bigger than 2’ x 3’, air horns, silly string, balloons or bi/tripods to be brought inside. These items will be confiscated by University of Phoenix Security.

·  The senior breakfast will take place on Monday, May 18st at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria.

·  All graduates must be in the new gym at 8:20 a.m. for graduation line-up instructions followed by a practice on the football field. ALL graduates are required to be at entire practice in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony on the evening of May 19th. We will be outside on the football field; please make sure your student plans accordingly for the Arizona sun and heat.

·  Graduating seniors will receive caps and gowns at the conclusion of the mandatory Graduation Practice on May 18th, 2015. In order for students to receive a cap and gown, ALL student fees including cafeteria charges, bookstore fees, athletic fees and equipment and debts must be paid in full prior to Friday, May 15th.

·  Graduation is a formal celebration; appropriate behavior is expected at all times. Students displaying inappropriate behavior at any time (before or after graduation practice or during ceremony) will be removed.

·  The Dysart Unified District’s stand on Senior Ditch Day, Senior Pranks and Senior Trips are clearly defined. Inappropriate behaviors, pranks, or any other such actions may result in your student not being able to participate in commencement. If you would, please discuss with your son/daughter the seriousness of any actions that result in damage to the school or disruption of the educational process. We are confident that respectful behavior will be exhibited by the Class of 2015.

Again, graduation is an exciting time. The faculty, staff, administration and the Governing Board of Dysart Unified School District are proud of the achievements of our students. We look forward to honoring the Class of 2015 with you.

Sincerely,

Amy Hartjen
