If selected as a provider for this clinical service position, you will be required to provide proof of education and transcripts (and proof of licensure, if applicable) and pass all required background checks prior to hire. You will also be required to complete MHP’s credentialing process and attend new hire orientation/training before you will be able to begin work.
Job Description:
To provide mental health services to parents and infants, and their families, at high-risk for abuse, neglect and attachment disorders. The aim of Community Infant Program (CIP) services is to improve the quality of the parent-child relationship, address depression and anxiety with parents and facilitate healthy communication within in the entire family.
To provide outreach, clinical assessment, psychotherapy, and support to high-risk parent-infant dyads in home and clinic settings in Boulder County. This is part of a multidisciplinary team of psychotherapists and nurses providing intense services to multi-risk families.
Essential Duties:
· Provides home and clinic based parent/infant interaction assessment
· Works collaboratively with clients and other pertinent staff and agencies to provide assessment, develop treatment plans and coordinate appropriate care
· Provides psychotherapy (individual and family) and parenting education to clients
· Monitors infant growth and development in collaboration with CIP nurse
· Provides a variety of case management services, including assisting clients to apply for various types of public assistance and providing supporting documentation, attending multi-agency clinical case consultations, and facilitating referrals to other organizations
· Completes documentation of services, assessments, evaluations and treatment plans consistent with clinical and administrative policies and procedures
· Provides transportation for clients
· Participates in court hearings
· Provides support and coaching to clients during delivery
· Promotes and demonstrates MHP’s mission, vision and values through both behavior and job performance on a day to day basis
· Effectively interacts and communicates with other MHP staff/clients/customers/partners/etc
· Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform other essential functions of the job
· Other duties as assigned
Minimal Qualifications:
· Masters in Social Work, and 1 to 2 year internship plus 3 – 7 years prior experience in a clinical setting OR related PhD or PsyD plus zero to three years prior experience in a clinical setting
· Bilingual in English and Spanish required
· Licensed PhD or PsyD or Licensed Clinical Social worker (LCSW) required
· Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Infant Mental Health or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy required
· Must be at least 21 years old with a Colorado driver’s license and a safe driving record
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Understanding of healthy parenting capacity, attachment theory, impact of unresolved trauma and loss
· Knowledge of infant developmental norms, child development (0-3 years of age), child abuse and neglect dynamics
· Ability to observe and assess mother/infant interaction
· Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
· Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals
· Must be competent in working with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
· Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
· Intermediate computer skills including ability to use MS Office products and electronic health record
· Must have current CO driver’s license and safe driving record
Working Environment
· General office environment
· May include working with people in acute distress or crisis
· Requires travel to several MHP sites throughout Boulder and Broomfield counties to attend meetings, including clients homes and community settings
· Exposure to unsanitary conditions, lice, illness, pets, cigarette smoke
· Some evening hours may be required
Physical Activities/Equipment Usage
· Carrying babies and their equippage;
· kneeling, bending, lifting, shifting equipment from car to and from destination.
