Administrative Assistant and Technician
PrimaryFunction:ManagingallaspectsofthedailyoperationofPreschool to provide quality care and education to meet the individual needs of children and their families/whānau. The Senior Teacher is actively involved in day to dayteaching.

1Curriculum andProgramme
To provide innovative teaching and learning, displaying professional teaching behaviours consistent with the New Zealand Teachers Council guidelines.
Responsibilities and Expected Results:
- Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and delivery of aninnovative
programme designed within the framework of Te Whāriki, Early Childhood Curriculum and other relevant documents.
- Ensure that the programme is responsive to the interests and needs of children, their families/whānau andstaff.
- Work collaboratively with staff to present the Preschool environment as an inviting and stimulatingcentre.
- Oversee and participate in the planning and assessment of the children’s learning experiences.
2Children
Provide an inclusive environment that supports children’s holistic needs and well-being.
Responsibilities and Expected Results:
- Provide appropriate learning opportunities for all children, using effective teaching approaches to guide and support their development as capable, confidentlearners.
- Support the holistic well-being of individual children in a safe environment, using positive guidance strategies, and supporting and sustaining children’s socialcompetence.
3Staff
Provide leadership and guidance to all staff to ensure each individual meets their professional responsibilities.

- Provideleadershipandguidancetoallstaffinaccordancewiththecentre’sphilosophy, values, policies andpractices.
- Model and facilitate collaborativepractices.
- Provide leadership in collaborative self-reviewpractices.
4Families, Whānau, andCaregivers
To maintain and enhance collaborative relationships with families/whānau and caregivers.
Responsibilities and Expected Results:
- Promote and foster effective relationships and communication with parents, whānau andcaregivers.
- Maintain in-house communications and ensure that there is regular and meaningful consultation with appropriatepeople.
5Organisation andManagement
Responsibilities and Expected Results:
- Ensure compliance with and adherence to current Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations, teacher registration, licensing, and statutory requirements, occupational health and safety requirements, policies and practices and procedures as applicable to thePreschool.
- Oversee the administrative responsibilities associated with the effective operation of thePreschool.
6General Performance Areas Responsibilities and ExpectedResults:
- In conjunction with the Centre Manager and school management, support the implementation and monitoring of the Preschool’s strategicdirection.
- Demonstrate belief in and commitment to the Preschool Philosophy andValues.
- Work co-operatively with others to achieve the common goals of thePreschool.
- Carry out any additional duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required to meet the demands of the Preschool operation andactivities.
7Professional Development Responsibilities and ExpectedResults:
- Keep up-to-date with early childhood educational principles and practices to maintain personal and professional development, actively participating in and promoting appropriate professional development opportunities in conjunction with the Centre Manager.
