POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: / VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL SERVICESLOCATION: / DeKalb Campus
DESCRIPTION: / Georgia Piedmont Technical College is seeking a highly capable individual to lead its business and financial services areas. Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Business and Financial Services is a key member of the President’s Cabinet and College leadership team who performs work of considerable difficulty as the leader of operations that are part of Business Services including: purchasing, budgeting, accounting, asset management, print shop and central receiving. The position is charged with contributing to all aspects of College-wide strategic planning and the implementation of that plan. The Business and Financial Services Department offers timely, cost-effective, high-quality support services to stakeholders on the College's three campuses and other physical locations.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES: /
- Advising the President on all aspects of the College’s finances, including but not limited to financial planning, budget and policy development
- Providing administrative direction for College-wide purchasing and business services, including procurement, materials management (mail services, store operations, property control and surplus property) programs
- Recommending purchasing policies in accordance with State Personnel Board and Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) policy and developing purchasing strategies for major material or service requirements
- Responsibility for contract and relationship management in college auxiliary business services partnerships, including the GPTC Bookstores, document management services, vending services, Beck Cleaning Services and staffing agencies.
- Initiating projects and coordinating interdisciplinary teams to implement approved projects and programs
- Identifying opportunities to manage costs and improve effectiveness within all areas of responsibility
- Planning budgets planning and preparing activities or programs needed to support the College's objectives in all areas of responsibility
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: / A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, public administration, or related field *and* Seven (7) years of related work experience, including five (5) years in a managerial or administrative capacity
OR
A Master’s degree*and* Three (3) years of related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: / In addition to the minimum qualifications,a Master’s degree in accounting, business or public administration, CPA and experience in higher education is preferred.
The successful candidate must have:
- Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing practices and techniques, including negotiation skills
- Experience in administration and management of business services area, including auxiliary operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of statutory requirements, policies and practices affecting College purchasing and business services
- Demonstrated knowledge of state-of-the-art office automation and document management technology
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective progressive working relationships
- Experience in higher education
- Experience in planning, staffing, organizing, motivating, developing, directing and evaluating a business services/administrative organization
- Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills and analytical capabilities
SALARY: / The salary range for this position mid90’s to low100’s determined by education, experience, and other qualifications.
