Charts
Chart Visual representation of data. Charts make it easy to view large amounts of data at a glance and show direct relationships between criteria ranges.
Pie Used to show percentage relationships, parts of a whole value (percentage of total).
Line Used to chart a value(s) over a period of time to make predictions (stock market, sales totals)
Bar/Column Used to show value(s) and relationships of multiple variables, possibly over time (sports statistics, grade/point distribution)
When creating a chart, be sure to:
- Think about the purpose of your table. What are you trying to show?
- Select relevant data. If your data range is not correct, you will end up with a chart that lacks validity.
