Thank you for choosing our Ocean Palms Villa for your vacation! Here is a bit of information to help make your trip more enjoyable!
General
By now you should have received a confirmation number for your stay. Please bring that number with you on your check-in day in case you are asked to provide it. If you have not received a confirmation number please contact me and let me know. This is the number that would have been sent to you via email from the Westin.
Check-In
Upon arrival you are going to enter Port Royal Plantation. The plantation hosts a number of facilities, including the Westin Hotel and Spa, and Ocean Palms to name a few. So you will proceed through the Port Royal Plantation entrance and follow the signs to the Westin. (it requires a sharp left turn so read the signs)
You will check-in at the Westin front desk and tell them you are checking into Ocean Palms. They will have your reservation under the name you listed on your confirmation. You will get your villa keys as well as your pool, tennis, and golf passes for the week.
Villa Info
Our Villa is Ocean Palms #138. When you leave the Westin you will travel out of the Westin, Ocean Palms is the second entrance on the left . You will follow a winding tree lined lane around the pond(look for the alligator..he lives there) always bearing left. Our Villa is at the very end of the road on the second floor. (Remember that it requires stairs as you are packing that suitcase!)
In Your Villa
Your villa is equipped with everything you will need during your stay except food, drinks, and sunscreen! There will be a few day’s supply of coffee, sweeteners, paper towels, dishwasher tablets, liquid dish soap, clothing detergent, bath soap, shampoo, and toilet paper. There is a washer and dryer in your unit so you can pack light to save room for souvenirs! There is a flat screen TV, Wifi and DVD player in the great room.
A daily newspaper-USA Today is delivered to your door Monday-Friday. There is NO daily maid service. If you require this, it is available for a fee that will be charged to your unit. You will call “Villa Services” number listed in the villa. There is a folder of information and numbers available in the villa that you may need.
The villa is thoroughly cleaned before you arrive.
Golf/Tennis
As mentioned, you will receive your passes upon check-in. The tennis courts are on site. There are 3 golf courses included in the Plantation Golf Club, whichconsists of: Barony, Planter’s Row, and Robber’s Row. These courses are included in your stay. A cart fee is not included and will be an additional fee. There is 2 other courses off the plantation that are included in your stay for a small upcharge, these are; The Shipyard and Oyster Reef. Tee times may be made up to a week in advance by calling the Port Royal Golf Club at (843)-681-1750.
Tennis court times may be booked by calling the Port Royal Racquet Club at (843)-686-8803.
You can drive or call the free shuttle service the Westin provides.
Facilities/Amenities
You have your own pool at the villa (pictured here) or the beach is just yards from your villa. You can walk, drive, or call a free shuttle the Westin offers to take you to the beach or any on-property golf courses. The beach is beautiful, spacious, and clean! You can rent beach chairs at the Westin or bring your own.
Your stay entitles you to full use of the Westin’s facilities-beach access, health club, and discounts at the restaurants on site. If using the Westin’s pool, you may utilize the “Towel Tiki Hut”. You may use as many pool/beach towels as needed! As you return dirty towels you are replenished with clean ones. If you use the pool out back of your villa, you need to bring your own towels. There are 2 pools in the villa complex, and the Westin has a large outdoor pool, a baby pool, and a large heated covered pool. Weather permitting; your villa pools should be open.
Shopping/Grocery
There are several grocery stores just a few minutes away from your villa. The closest store is BiLo. You make a right onto the highway as you leave the Plantation and it is two minutes down the road on the left. There is also a Sam’s Club in the same plaza area.
When checking out of a grocery storelet the cashier know you are on vacation and they will enter the saver’s discount bonus card for you. At the Piggly Wiggly you need to stop at the Customer Service desk for a “vacation discount card”. The grocery stores sell wine and beer. Liquor is sold at a “Wine and Spirits” which are closed on Sundays.
Other Shopping
There is something for everyone on Hilton Head Island. No trip is complete without a visit to the famous Salty Dog Café! There are outlets a short distance off the island. There are hundreds of small interesting boutiques and galleries. Also there are a few antique and vintage shops. There are waterfront boutiques at Shelter Cove and Sea Pines (my favorite). Just explore and have fun! Inside the lobby of the Westin and grocery stores you will find all kinds of brochures, and dining guides.
Dining
There are over 300 restaurants on the island from down home local to Sea Shack paper plate dining to high end dining. I have been coming to Hilton Head Island for 5 years and have eaten at most of them. Some of my personal favorites, The Big Bamboo (WWII style restaurant/bar) and Frankie Bones (Goodfellas style restaurant). I’m sure that you will find some of your own favorites! I also like the restaurant by the pool at the Westin!
Day Trips
At the south end of the Island is Sea Pines Plantation. There is a marina there, with some unique shops and dining. It’s a nice way to spend an afternoon. Sea Pines has the best shopping and the sunset dolphin cruise is not to be missed!
Savannah, GA is a 40 minute drive, be sure to stop by River Street. Charleston, SC is not a long drive and is a delightful town.If you go, plan to spend an entire day there.
