ABSTRACT

ThisMS Word document is written in the format required for the abstract for the 8th international conference of Asian Concrete Federation ACF2018 “SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION IN CONCRETE MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES”.

Thefont type of the abstract isTimes New Roman. The abstract should be at least 150 words, but not exceed one page (NB: the page size in the printed book of abstracts will be scaled to 75% as compared with the size used here). A4 paper should be used. Page margins should be 2.5cm forthe left margin,2.0cm for the right margin and 2.5cm for the topandbottom margins. The abstract title (16 points, Bold and Centered) can have a maximum of two rows. The abstract text should be in 11 points regular with single line spacing. Author’s namesare written with the initials followed by a period; family names are written in full (e.g. T.T. Le). Thelist of authors is followed by the respective affiliation, country and emailin italics. The corresponding author should be indicated with the symbol *. Abstract text is justified and paragraphs are not indented. If desired, figure(s) can be included. This one page abstract will be published in the conference proceedings.

Abstract

A 150-300 word short abstract should be included before paper beginning.

1. Introduction

The conference proceedings will be published in an electronic format only, while all accepted abstracts will also be printed in the abstract book. The full paper in Microsoft Word file should be written in compliance with these instructions and submitted in Word format via the online submission systemon the conference website at

Authors are required to carefully proofread material before submitting.

Papers must be prepared in correct English. SI-units should be used.

Paper length should not exceed 10 pages.Keynote papers can be up to 12 pages.

Papers should describe the background of the subject, the authors’ work, including the methodologies used, discussion on the importance of the work and concluding remarks. Technical terms should be explained unless they may be considered to be known to the broader scientific community. Terms, acronyms and abbreviations should be mentioned at their first appearance.

2.Paper format

Authors are recommended to use this template to prepare their papers. This template is an A4 format with 2.5cm for the left margin, 2.0cm for the right margin and 2.5cm for the top and bottom margins.

All text paragraphs should be typed in single space. Double spacing should only be used before and after headings as shown in this example. No spaces should be placed between paragraphs.

2.1 Page Numbering, Header, Footer

Do not insert page numbers. Do not write in headers and footers or change them.

2.2 Fonts

Paper text should be Times New Roman font, 11 points and single line spacing. Only the following text should be italicized: mathematical parameters (not for log, sin, cos, ln, max., d (in dx), etc). Never use bold for paper text, except to denote vectors in mathematics. Do not underline text. Use the 10 point font, bold for tables, figure captions and use the 10 point font, normal for the references.

2.3 Tables and Figures

All figure captions should be typed below the figures and table heads should appear above the tables. Insert figures and tables immediately after they are cited in the text.

Figure captions and table headings should clearly explain the figure/table without needing to refer to the text andshould be typed with 10-point Times New Roman font. Figures and tables that have not mentioned in the text should not be presented.

All figures and tables should be numbered in order of appearance in the text. Figure captions should be centred below the figures and table headings should be centred above the tables.

2.4 Equations

Each equation should be presented on a separate line from the text with a blank space above and below. Equations should be clear and expressions used should be explained in the text. The equations should be numbered consecutively at the outer right margin, as shown here below:

a + b = c (1)

2.5 References

In the text, place the authors’ last names without initials and the date of publication in parentheses, e.g. Leung and Cao (2010) or Zhang et al (2010). At the end of the paper, list all references in alphabetical order, in a separate “References” section. The references should be typed using the References style (10 pt font, second and further lines indented by 4.0 mm). If several works by the same author are cited, entries should be chronological. If there is more than one paper by the same authors in a year, the references should be distinguished by attaching small alphabet in chronological order (e.g. Wan and Leung (2007a), Wan and Leung (2007b)). The references should be listed in the same order as cited in the text. See also examples in the "references" section at the bottom of this template.

3. Conclusions

‘Conclusions’ section is required. A conclusion should address all the concluding remarks including introduction, methods, innovations and significance of the research/study andbasically review the main points of the paper. Do not replicate the abstract as the conclusion.

Acknowledgements

This optional heading should be inserted just before the References heading, both headings(Acknowledgements and References) being without numbering.
