Professor: Dr. Leroy Kemp, Heard 204, Ph. 4622,
TEXTS: The NIV Study Bible
Encountering the Old Testament, Bill T. Arnold & Bryan E. Beyer
ATTENDANCE: Enrollment in this class presupposes the interest and
ability to attend on a regular basis. Responsible attendance is
essential to success in this course. If you miss more than 1/4 (10)
of the sessions, the highest grade you can make is a D. When you
miss a session, you are responsible for finding out from a class
member what was covered and any changes in schedule or
assignments. You are expected to be on time for class. Three
tardies equals one absence. If you miss a test, you will be allowed
to make it up only if there is sufficient reason. When make-up tests
are necessary, they must be taken promptly.
PREPARATION: Read the assignments in the NIV Study Bible and in
Arnold & Beyer.
AIMS OF THE COURSE:
- To provide the student with a survey of the Old Testament with
emphasis on the unfolding story of God’s interaction with His
covenant people.

Testament.
GRADING: There will be four tests including the final exam. One section of
the final exam will be comprehensive. Each of the four tests will
count one-fourth of the final grade. Class attendance and attitude
will be taken into consideration. The grading scale is A (90-100),
B (80-89), C (70-79) D (60-69), F (below 60)
