Ⅰ.Training Goal :
To make fellows capable of managing critically ill children, and being eligible and certified by the Society of Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care Medicine 台灣小兒科醫學會兒童重症醫學次專科委員會.
Ⅱ.Training Period :
Tow years or three years(as an option)

- Principles of PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- Pediatric FCCS
- Management of airway, endotracheal intubation.
- Management of intoxication .
- Management of CNS insult.
- Upper airway emergency management.
- Management of pulmonary critical illness.
- Management of cardiovascular critical illness.
- Management of neurological critical illness
- Cardiac-Pulmonary interactions.
- Abdominal Emergency.
- X-ray reading .
- Parenteral nutrition .
- Clinical pharmacology .
- Procedures :
- Arterial line .
- Central venous line-internal jugular, subclavian, femoral, and peripheral.
- Chest tube.
- Pericardiocentesis.

- Jugular bulb catheter
- Laboratory Diagnosis
ABG/VBG, EKG, CAT scan, MRI, Echocardiography, CBC, Biochemistry…etc

Ⅴ.Training Calender
- First-year fellow :
- Daytime PICU work : 8 months.
- Elective course : 3 months
Neonatology, Cardiology(Echocardiography, EKG, post OP care),
Anesthesiology(procedures), GI(Echo), RT(work with RT staffs), Reading/research, abdominal echo.
- Nigh-time on call:8/month(including two weekends), the second day will be OFF after morning round.
- Transport on call: will be defined later
- Academic activity: supervise residents reading two original article, one chapter of textbook aboutcritical care medicine per month.
- One topic review lecture in first year
- Second-year fellow :
- Day-time PICU work: 8 months.
- Night-time on call : 6/month.
- Off-days on call : 2 weekends
- Transport on call: will be defined later
- One topic review.
- Research: 2 month. One original article.
- Elective course(any field) or writing : two months
*Day-time work includes :
- Rounds with attending in the morning and evening
- Supervise residents in daily works.
- Cover and supervise residents on invasive procedures.
- Supervise RT with mechanical ventilation adjustment.
- Nutrition.
- Supervise pharmacist on pharmacokinetics
- Discover obscure problems and report to the attending in charge.
- Arrange academic activities
- Communication with other departments/hospitals
*Night-time work includes :
- Rounds with residents at 10pm(may use telephone if there is no critically ill
Patient) and report to the on-call attending.
- Transport team.
VI. Three year options:
- One and a half year on another subspecialties: cardiology, neonatology, pulmonology. The course can be adjusted to match needs of certain academic societies.
- The third year fellow will still have night time oncalls: 3/months.
