You are to take screenshots of the tasks below showing that you successfully performed the tasks. Put all your screenshots in 1 MS Word document and submit it to me via Blackboard.

Lab Steps

Below are all the tasks you need to perform for this week’s lab. You need to show a screenshot for each task showing that you successfully completed each tasks. Don’t forget you can double-up on screenshots (meaning have multiple tasks in the same screenshot)

1. Set Windows Update to run at 4:30am every Friday

2. Run a Disk Cleanup & see how much space you can save

3. Set the Disk Quota to approximately 75% of the total disk space

4. Run a the defrag utility & report on how much the HD is fragmented

5. Partition the hard drive into 3 separate partitions (size & drive letter of your choice)

6. Name the partitions

a. Personal Files

b. Application Programs

c. Game Programs

7. Create a folder on the desktop & name it IT-3110

8. Put 5 random pictures in there from the internet

9. Note how much total space the folder is using then. . .

10. Compress the contents of the folder & show how much space was saved

11. Delete the Game Program partition & extend the Application Program partition

12. Show the results of extending the Application Program partition

13. Rename the machine PC_1

14. Change the name of the workgroup to Production

15. Verify the amount of RAM install on the machine

16. Check for any important updates

17. Verify that the machine is getting a dynamic IP address

18. See what users have local accounts on the machine

19. Show which groups are on the local machine

20. Change the desktop wall paper to a nice spring picture

21. See if there is any unnecessary programs installed

22. Run the Windows Experience Index & report your results

23. List out what kind of processor(s) the machine is using

24. Make sure the HKEYs are all there

25. Change the control panel to large icons

26. Run the dir command in a CLI 15. Change the administrator password to P@$$w0rD 16. Look into the Event Viewer and see what critical errors have been happening
