MISSION

CFC’s mission is to help people with cystic fibrosis. The organization:

• funds research towards the goal of a cure or control for cystic fibrosis;

• supports high quality cystic fibrosis care;

• promotes public awareness of cystic fibrosis; and

• raises and allocates funds for these purposes.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Engagement Officer , under the direction of the Regional Executive Director, Northern and Eastern Ontario, is responsible for the support of 8 CFC chapters including the building of relationships to engage CFC volunteers, supporting their fundraising efforts, providing administrative support and assisting with select regional core and partner events.

The successful applicant is a superior communicator and leader who seeks out opportunities to increase awareness of Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s mission; a strong relationship builder both internally and externally; an organized, energetic, and self-motivated individual who fosters a culture of philanthropy and collaboration.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• College or University certification in fundraising management, special events plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience working for a charitable or not-for-profit organization;

• Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies and execution of contact strategies;

• Previous experience in volunteer management, donor relations, coordination of special events, and project management;

• Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;

• Solid knowledge of MSWord, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and social media platforms;

• Graphic design skills and familiarity of Constant Contact would be an asset;

• Demonstrate sound judgment, high integrity, and an ability to cultivate and build positive lasting relationships with donors, volunteers, prospective supporters and the public;

• Ability to exercise initiative, prioritizes, and works to deadlines;

• Detail oriented, excellent organizational and administrative skills;

• Ability to employ a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential documents and information

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Provide ongoing administrative support to the Regional Executive Director, Northern and Eastern Ontario, including the collection and management of select donations;

• Coordinate chapter related expenses with the National office; database management, meeting coordination, and general administrative duties;

• Provide support to the Regional Executive Director to maximize revenue opportunities through the development of relationship management and major gift strategies appropriate to the various regional chapters;

• Cultivate and steward relationships with volunteers, existing and new donors, sponsors, community event organizers, media partners and staff;

• Collaborate with Chapter volunteers on the planning and execution of partner and community events;

• Develop and disseminate regional media advisories, news releases and psa’s;

• Liaise with colleagues to ensure appropriate supplies of organizational materials are on hand;

• Offer assistance with the development of sponsorship and foundation proposals;

• Support the development and maintenance of regional websites, Facebook pages and twitter posts;

• Represent CFC at various meetings and fundraising events when needed;

• Some evening and weekend work will be required from time to time;

• Because of the nature of this position, a vehicle is required
