Process
When I was first told about this project I knew I was going to do something with the Civil War. So I went of the book I read over the summer Killing Lincoln by Bill O’Reilly. The book talked about the war, Lincoln’s affairs up to his death, and Booths’ life before he killed Lincoln up to his death even the trial for the murder. The book and museum (Mudd House) I went to,gave me the encouragement to do a paper on battle tactics, the assassination of Lincoln, or Booth. Then I listed what I knew about each topic and what I wanted to know. Booth I knew he was a famous actor, how many girls loved, he had many connections same as his girlfriend (they were only together because of the others static not love) and he was a confederate sympathizer. My question was only one WHY??????? What drove you to do that? But it was because he was a sore loser. With the assassination of Lincoln all I knew was how, why, when, were, and who but I knew very little about his past. Now battle tactics all I knew wasthe buffalo horn and fish hook. (A fish hook is where a line of solders move to a defensive position in the shape of a hook. Shaka, an African worrier and king of the Kulu tribe, invented the buffalo horn. The buffalo horn is a trapping technique but can be applied to battle. You make a “U” around your target and lead them to a trap such as a pit or ambush.)
The introduction to this assignment was a class trip to the library. In the library Miss. Nelson presented a power point to the class about research and told us two database sights that would be a major help to us in our research. She also told us a sight to create a citation.
The minimum requirements for part three (part one and two were mentioned in the first paragraph just not noted) were seven credible souses (4 had to be from a database), one primary sores, the citations had to be in MLA format, and we had to be written in his format.
The class then went to the computer lab every day sins November 26 – 17 but my class did not go the 13th because it was booked. I technically started my research over the summer reading Killing Lincoln but at school I lessened to the papers Night Battle for Cemetery Hill, The Bloodiest Day, (read)Proving the Power of IRON OVER WOOD,CSS Virginia (1862-1862), ex-USS Merrimack, along with some pictures of an iron clad and a map. It took me two class times to finish Night Battle for Cemetery Hill. The next day I tried to find a map to better grasp the paper and then cite it witch was hard to do because I was not sure if I was doing it right. Then I found The Bloodiest Day to read the next day. That did not happen but set it aside for when were would be in class. I also set asideProving the Power of IRON OVER WOODbut readCSS Virginia (1862-1862), ex-USS Merrimack, because with that I also got some pictures of an iron clad. Around this time I started coming in to the computers during 6th hour because that class turned into a study hall. (It was a study hall because the teacher that replaced Mr. Davies was having medical problems and that class could not be held in the classroom, so we were in the cafeteria “commons”. It was boring in there and I did not want to do this paper at home because that would be one huge headache. Plus I love to be detailed and now I have plenty of time to be detailed.) So while I was in the library working Kazaks’ 6th hour came in and Alex sat next to me and he would every time we were both in here(the day Kozak told us how to cite). We manly talked about our topics and held hands at times, while working and trying to stay on track unless I needed spelling help witch was a lot, unless it was journaling time then I would start poking him or talking about something not relevant to English class. While in my class I read both papers that I put aside and summarized and learned about part 4 and laid out how I wanted it and the conclusion written (that day).
Next day I posted my part 3 then had to refine part 3 because it was not spaced wright. Then typed conclusion and into but needed a tittle. The next day started on some body paragraphs and part 3 was due and mine was not right because it was not in abc order and then not spaced right. I had to rereupload part 3, was ticked and cry for the umpteenth time because of a paper.
The next day I did another paragraph of part 4 and learned the minimum of part 5. Then the next two day I did last two paragraphs for part 4 loaded it and started part 5 worked on that for the last two days and today and going to upload this to the site. I don’t see how this could be done in one class period but I type slowly. But now that I am done I am going to read Matched by Ally Condie.
