The first art project will be 3D which will begin on Wed April 8 with paper mache forming. Then on Wed April 29 the students will paint and on Wed May 6 they will glaze. Parent helpers are needed on all three days. The second art project will be 2D and will be on two days - Mon May 11 and Fri May 15. Parent helpers are also needed on these two days. There will be an art show/gallery walk on the last day of the Scholastic Book Fair, Thurs May 28, to showcase what the students have created.

The month end assembly will be on Mon Jan 26 at 9:30am. The assemblies are moving to focusing on monthly virtues and this month is kindness. The assembly will contain a video clip on kindness and a song or poem for students to learn. During the month there will be weekly tasks or focuses, for example, smile and say Hi to someone you don’t know well; invite someone new to play with you; give a compliment/say thank you if you are given one. Next month will bea virtue related to anti bullying, such as respect, to coincide with Anti Bullying Day on Feb 25.

The proposed school calendar for 2015/2016 will be sent out via email to all parents. The email provides a link for parents to provide feedback to the district on the proposed calendar. It looks roughly the same as this year, with a two week spring break.

There is a need for more school jerseys in larger sizes. The school would like to order 10 more jerseys at a cost of $250 and is hoping the PAC can cover that cost.

There were more than 400 people served at the Santa Breakfast, the best turnout ever. Steve received much appreciation and gratitude from the families that received the Christmas hampers. He read a very nice letter from one of the families expressing their thanks.

Treasurer’s Report:

Kim presented her report. The Christmas Store brought in $2,024.37, the most it’s ever done. The Silent Auction made $2,660.24.

Natalie motioned to approve spending up to $250 for gift bags and wrap for next year’s Christmas Store. Seconded by Shannon. Motion passed unanimously.

Natalie motioned to approve spending up to $150 for the purchase of a Santa suit. Seconded by Noel. Motion passed unanimously.

Fundraising Report:

The Fun Fair has been set for Thursday June 4. Melissa is looking into booking Hamster Balls, a dunk tank and a climbing wall.

The payment system at the Silent Auction went quite smoothly. Shannon will not be running the event next year but will be available to mentor whoever will be taking it over.

Discussion on whether to move the Christmas Store to the Friday before the last week of school so that last week is not so hectic for the parent volunteers, as the Silent Auction/Santa Breakfast and the school wide skating field trip is also during the last week of school.

Other:

Shannon stated that she will not be able to attend any more PAC meetings as she is now working Mon-Thurs. She offered to step down if someone else wanted to take on the role of Vice Chair. No one put their name forward.

Meeting adjourned at 10:35 am.
