Summary:

The focus of this position is to assist the Housing Office, Warehouse, and Maintenance staff with a variety of duties which may include, but are not limited to, inspections, eviction set outs, vacant unit make ready, painting, general cleaning, assessing storage units, scheduling Receiving and Distribution tasks, heat treating, and other duties as assigned.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Work with clients and staff to schedule moves and heat treats.
  • Cleaning vacant units or abandoned property and performing basic maintenance.
  • Assist staff and Sherriff’s office in eviction set outs.
  • Follow current policies and procedures addressing bed bug prevention.
  • Schedule and complete property and lead based paint inspections.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Paint, replace light bulbs, or other basic maintenance in preparing vacant units for tenancy.
  • Complete habitability and lead based paint inspections in accordance with HUD guidelines.
  • Clean vacant units in preparation for new tenants or in accordance with HAS inspection results.
  • Complete make ready checklist on TKI units and communicate needed repairs to maintenance.
  • Assist Receiving and Distribution staff in scheduling moves, donations, and tasks.
  • Assist Receiving and Distribution and/or Housing Office staff as needed.
  • Assist with pest control and accompany technician for monthly service.
  • While doing so, perform visual property inspections and report concerns to management or maintenance.
  • Assess storage units prior to sending box truck to pick up items.
  • Perform move out walk through with property owners using approved documentation methods.
  • Work with volunteers in the Receiving and Distribution Center.
  • Assist with eviction set-outs and/or clean outs.
  • Clean Spero Place grounds and building weekly.
  • Conduct interactions with donors, volunteers and clients in a manner that reflects our mission of providing services with dignity and respect.
  • Move furniture and other personal belongings into and out of heat tents
  • Operate heat tents according to current policies and procedures as part of the bed bug protocol.
  • Follow current policies and procedures addressing bed bug prevention.
  • Assist staff in moves and/or heat treats as needed.
  • Deliver company vehicles to service appointments.
  • Deliver tenant notices regarding maintenance, pest control, etc. with 24 hours’ notice.
  • Work with Receiving and Distribution staff to create volunteer task lists.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move 40 to 50 pounds on a regular basis along with navigating stairs while lifting.
  • Class E or Class A Missouri Driver’s license and be approved as a driver by The Kitchen, Inc.’s insurance carrier.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
