Train to teach- Schools Direct with Leeds Beckett University from September 2017

The Temple Newsam Learning Partnership Trust is a group of schools and partners who work together for the benefit of the community as a whole. The Trust has a shared vision and a common set of values but also celebrates the diversity in our area and the uniqueness of each school. The Trust works to develop a community which ensures that pupils and their families are supported to raise aspirations and to improve their life chances.

Within this Trust, Temple Moor High School, Whitkirk Primary, TemplenewsamHalton Primary, Austhorpe Primary, Colton Primary and Meadowfield Primary have formed the ‘Train to Teach’ alliance – TNLP Alliance- offering Schools Direct places in partnership with Leeds Beckett University. We offer a strong, established network of support and training for all students. We are a diverse group of schools and we are well-placed to prepare students for a successful teaching career.

Meadowfield Primary is the lead school for Teacher Training within the TNLP Alliance. We work together with Leeds Beckett University and the 5 schools listed above to offer Schools Direct as a high quality and professionally respected route into teaching.

As a graduate with a good honours degree you can apply via UCAS to the partnership to undertake your training. The year long programme is school based and training is delivered by our Alliance Schools and our partner – Leeds Beckett University.

Our aim is to train the next generation of outstanding teachers and we are keen to recruit trainees who share this vision. We provide bespoke training delivered by outstanding practitioners across a diverse range of schools. Training is tailored to the needs and experiences of the individual trainee, taking account of your current knowledge and skills. After a year’s successful training you will achieve Qualified Teacher Status and be in an excellent position to gain employment.

Why apply to TNLP Alliance?

We are a small Schools Direct Alliance based in a strong, effective and well-established Trust group. We work closely with Leeds Beckett University to personalise the training journey for each of our students. Our 5 schools are geographically close and yet cover a diverse socio-economic area, providing students with a good range of teaching experiences and opportunities. Having experienced such a wide range of teaching and learning contexts, our students have a lot to offer when making applications for jobs. Our Trust already offers a bespoke NQT induction programme covering behaviour management, assessment and innovative pedagogy amongst other topics. Within the Alliance we have one outstanding (OFSTED 2012) primary school with all other schools having a 'Good' OFSTED judgement, a lead PE teacher, highly qualified Special Educational Needs leaders, a link to a high care partnership both primary and secondary, a specialist secondary science college, a nurture provision for KS1 and a wealth of excellent classroom practitioners for our students to work alongside.
