Brief Introduction on Qinhuangdao City:
Qinhuangdao is situated in the northeastern part of Hebei Province, at the 39°24′-40°37′ N and 118°33′-119°51′. It faces the Bohai Sea to its south while lying against the Yanshan Mountain in its north. Laolongtou(the Old Dragon’s Head) where the Great Wall stretches into the sea is located in the ancient town of Shanhaiguan, an urban district of Qinhuangdao. The Great Wall built in Ming Dynasty runs across the city’s boundaries for more than 250 kilometers. And it also has 126.4 kilometers of coastline. Qinhuangdao has 3 urban districts, 4 counties and 1 Economic and Technological Development Zone (ETDZ) under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 7523 square kilometers and a total population of 2.76 million. Qinhuangdao gets its name after Emperor Qinshihuang, the first emperor in China who once stayed here when he made his investigation tour in the east part of China. And Qinhuangdao is the only city in China named after an emperor. It is one of the first 14 coastal cities approved by the Central Government for further opening up to the outside world and an important port in northern China for foreign trade. And it is also listed as one of the China’s Cities Excellent in Tourism, receiving nearly 100 million tourists each year both from home and abroad. Known as the Seashore Garden of the Great Wall”, Qinhuangdao enjoys convenient transportation. It is the conjunction point of Beijng-Shenyang and Datong Qinhuangdao Railways. Beijing-Shenyang high-speed railway that has just put into operations passes the city. Beijing-Shenyang Express Highway and No.205 State Highway also runs through the whole boundaries of the city. Qinhuangdao Airport has opened air lines to such 7 domestic cities as Shanghai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Shijiazhuang, Heihe, Manzhouli and Mudanjiang, and is planning to open its international air lines to Hong Kong, Japan and Russia. Passenger ships from Qinhuangdao Port can reach Incheon, South Korea, and Shandong, Shanghai and Guangzhou. With its advanced telecommunications and complete infrastructure, Qinhuangdao ranked the 29th in the country for comprehensive strength in 2005, consecutively awarded as one of “China’s Top 40 Cities Excellent in Investment Environment”, one of “China’s Top 50 Cities Excellent in Competitive Potentiality”, and one of “China’s Top 10 Cities Most Potential for Development”. Qinhuangdao enjoys a warm temperate, semi-humid, continental and monsoon climate. Affected by the sea, the climate is temperate. It is dry with low rainfall in spring, not very hot in summer, sunny and cool in autumn, and long but not very cold in winter. The average temperature in August from 2000 to 2005 is 24.1℃, with an average rainfall of 159.4 mm and average relative humidity of 82.
General Account of QHD Olympic Sports Center
The stadium of Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center, which will be used for Olympic Football Preliminary, is located at Haigang District, Qinhuangao, adjacent to the Bohai Sea. With a total investment of RMB 350 million, the stadium started to be built on May 27, 2002, and completed and put into operation on July 30, 2004. Designed with a membrane structure, the stadium is like a sailing boat with its hoisted sails looking from afar, which is original and unique in its style. The external surface of spectator’s area is shaped elliptically. Covering a land area of 170,000 square meters, the main building has 6 floors with a total construction area of 51800 square kilometers. There are 33309 seats in the stadium, which has a football field conforming to Olympic standard, and a standard filed and track area surrounded by a 400-meter plastic and rubber track. The football field, which is 150 meters in its length, and 68 meters in width, takes natural lawns with the grass seeds introduced from America. The planting area of the lawns exceeds 2.5 meters beyond the football field boundaries. Exactly speaking, the lawns are 112 in length and 73 meters in width. Two football-training grounds, located respectively at the east and the west sides of the main football field, are 105 meters long and 68 meters wide each. Perennial ryegrass is planted in the lawns, which are maintained with sprinkling irrigation systems. The lawns are closed by mental grids. The parking lot outside of the stadium can hold 918 vehicles, of which 21 are for medium or large-sized bus. And an area of 4795 square meters are used as parking place for bicycles.
l Layout of Functional Rooms
The athletes lounges, referees lounges, office rooms for the organizing committee, reporters workshops, and press conference center, are all situated at the bottom of the west bleacher. Eight functional suites with bathing rooms for athletes meet the requirements of international games. The clinics, the Doping Control Lab, after-game control center are ready to offer services for various games. Furthermore, conference rooms, VIP reception rooms, workshops for television relay, office rooms, fire fighting control center are all well prepared.
Survey on Beidaihe
Beidaihe is a well-known relaxing and holiday destination. It has an area of 70.3 square kilometers with a population of 63,000. It has been praised as “The Paradise of the Human-beings” for its beautiful scenery and comfortable climate by many great poets since the beginning of last century. With the support from all levels of governments, Beidaihe becomes not only a holiday destination, but also a treasury land for investors from domestic and abroad. After China’s opening and reform, Beidaihe was awarded to be the National Key Scenic Resort evaluated by the State Council, the Garden City in China, One of the 40 Top Tourism Cities, and Excellent Tourism City in China. With the gentle and charming bay, 18-kilometer long beach, soft sand and calm tide, Beidihe appears as a romantic and relaxing picture before the people. It is a natural green oxygen bar, the annual average temperature is 10.3 centigrade, neither severe hot in summer nor bitter cold in winter. The sound quality air with 5000 negative oxygen icons per cubic centimeter and 60% green coverage of the land make Beidaihe to be the most suitable ecological living environment for people. There are more than 410 kinds of birds flying and resting here. Chairman Mao Zedong ever said :”the air, sunshine and the sea are the most attractive in Beidaihe.” Mr. George W. Bush, the president of the United States also highly spoken the beauty of Beidaihe as he claimed the Great Wall when he visited China.
Beidaihe is a city with elegance and culture. In china’s history, some great emperors such as Qinshihuang(the first emperor of China), Han Wudi, Tang Taizong ever made inspections and stationed here. There still preserves the relics of the temporary palace of Qin Shihuang and terrace of Han Wudi. In 1898, Beidaihe was approved to be a summer resort and allowed foreigners to reside together with the local people, and it became the first tourism and holiday place determined by the government, and was praised as “the first summer resort in East Asia.” Therefore, Beidaihe became the birthplace of China’s modern tourism industry. The hundreds of existing villas here witnessed the 100-year of splendid history of Beidaihe, the top leaders and tycoons met here, and western cultures and eastern cultures were melted here too. After the founding of new China, Beidaihe was designated to be the summer office for the leaders of the CPC and central government. A lot of important events were taken place here, many important policies were made here, so it always drew eye-sights from the domestic and abroad. Nowadays, Beidaihe has more than 200 provincial-level guesthouses and sanatoriums with 80,000 beds, and it enjoys a position of the biggest holiday and recuperate base and a health and relaxation center in China.
General Introduction Of QETDZ
Qinhuangdao Economic and Technological Development Zone(QETDZ),hereafter referred to as Qinhuangdao Development Zone, is one of the first batch of the national-level economic and technological development zones set up with the approval of the State Council in October ,1984. It is adjacent to Beijing and Tianjin and located in the center of the rapidly emerging Bohai ring area ,connecting the two big economic areas of North China and Northheast China .It covers a sea area of 23.81km2 and has a coastline of 6 km.. On November 9,2005,the State Council officially approved an expanded area of 16.8km2 of QETDZ,and the whole planned and controlled area of the development zone has reached 56.72 km2..
Qinhuangdao Development Zone consists of two parts(East and West).The eastern part is located to the east of Shanhuaiguan Old Dragon Head,the starting point of the Great Wall .And the Western part is adjacent to the summer resort Beidaihe .According to the principle of “planning from a high starting point, develoing in great efforts,offering complete set of services with high standards, and standards, and administrating with high efficiency”, Qinhuangdao Development Zone has been trying to improve infrastructure and optimize investment development in the past 20years.At present, all the for projects in the zone has been supplied with water supply, power supply, heat , supply, telecommunication service and perfect road condition. The green coverage is 42.82% with average public green area of 12.42 m2.. per person .In June 2001, the State Environmental Protection Bureau approved QETDZ as an IS O14000 National Demonstration Zone .In May 2002, QETDZ was approved as the Environmental protection Model Zone by the government of Hebei Province .Now the whole zone is making great efforts to achieve the title of National Environmental protection Model City (District).

The number of domestic-invested projects was 3524, with the actual value of RMB 15.814 billion.Investors from as many as 33 countries and regions such as the U.S.A,,Britain,Germany,,Japan,,Australia,Korea,Singapore,Hong Kong, and Taiwan, ect. have invested in QETDZ.. .A number of world 500 top enterprises,transnational corporations and domestic well-know nompanies such as GE,,ALCOA, ADM, Demag, WILO, KHS, TI, Bondi, LG, Samyang genex, ASAHI Glass, ITOCHU, Chia Thai, Wilmar, WAN CHI, CITIC, COFCO, PetroChina, Cosco, CSSC, Chinapack, Shougang Group, Guangdong houlding Co., Harbin Power Equipment,Tianwei Group,Yaoha,Hualong Nissin Food and so on also invested here .Now QETDZ has preliminarily formed five industried with distinctive characteristics including cereals ,oil and foodstuffs processing, automobile and parts, large equipment manufacturing, metal rolling and manufacturing as well as glass building materials.The effect of industry concentration has distinctively appeared , and the development speed is becoming faster and gaining more and more momentum.
Shanghaiguan District
Shanghaiguan is one of the 3 urban districs of Qinhuangdao city, covering 192 km2. total population is 122 thousand .there is a distance of 18.3 km from the east to the west and 16.92 km from the north to the south .it faces the Bohai sea on the south and leans against Yuanshan Mountain on the north .It is 290 km to Beijing to the west, 220km to Tianjin to the southwest and 200km to Dalian across the sea to the southeast.
The environment in Shanhaiguan is excellent, the days in which the air quality exceeds Level Ⅱ(national standard) are more than 80% of the years.
