Introduction
As part of the federal requirements for states’ receiving funding under Phase 2 of the State Fiscal Stabilization Funds Program, all school districts in New Jersey are providing information to the public on the procedures they use to evaluate teachers and principals. The information presented below will help you understand Ogdensburg’s policies and procedures for evaluating teachers and educational specialists such as librarians and counselors.
Confidentiality concerns: To protect the confidentiality of individual evaluations, districts are not required to provide a district-level statistical summary of teacher evaluation outcomes in those cases where there are fewer than 10 teachers in an entire district. Similarly, districts are not required to provide a school-level statistical summary of teacher evaluation outcomes if there are fewer than 10 teachers in a school.
Section 1. Description of Teacher Evaluation System --
- The Ogdensburg School District uses the state approved Marzano instrument to evaluate teachers in the district. The evaluation system uses evidence as well as narrative descriptions of the lesson and the delivery of instruction by the teacher during the lesson observed. The administrative staff makes periodic visits to the classroom to assist in the knowledge of consistency in reference to the observed lesson. The primary areas of evaluation are provided on the standard assessment.
- Teachers at Ogdensburg School are evaluated through classroom observation three times per year for all staff. All teachers receive a summative evaluation at the end of the school year.

The evaluation system uses evidence as well as narrative descriptions of the educational leader who promotes the success of all students byimplementation, of the vision of learning, nurtures, and sustaining the school culture, and by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner. The Superintendent/Principal makes periodic observations to assist in the knowledge of consistency in reference to the observed actions.
- Administrators at Ogdensburg School are evaluated through office observation three times per year. All administrators receive a summative evaluation at the end of the school year.
