1)  Apologies / Several apologies were sent from group members
2)  Minutes of the previous meeting / Minutes were agreed as accurate by the group
3)  CQC Inspection (Pat) / Pat informed the group of the CQC Inspection of the practice that took place on Tuesday 23 February 2016.
Pat thanked members of the group who had taken the time to attend surgery to speak to the Inspector on the day.
Initial feedback from the Inspector was shared with the group. The full report is due in approximately 6 – 8 weeks, after which it will be available to view on our website
4)  Staffing Changes (Pat) / Dr Fox has now retired from the practice. We send him our best wishes for a happy retirement.
Advanced Nurse Practitioner: Sr Paula Spooner is starting work on 23 May 2016. Sr Spooner will offer routine pre-bookable, same day and urgent appointments. She can issue prescriptions, refer to secondary services etc.
During the period from Dr Fox retiring and Sr Spooner starting the GPs at Stanley will be working extra sessions to provide continuity.
5)  AOB / One group member wanted to thank Dr Jeffery for the care received during their family members illness and for the bereavement visit. Pat thanked the group member for their kind comments and will pass this on to Dr Jeffery.
Pat advised the group of the clarification of the Adult Community Unscheduled Care team (District Nurse) role.
Home visits will be for those who are strictly housebound.
They will attend surgery to manage complex wounds; less complex wounds will be seen by Stanley practice nurses.
They will no longer offer ear syringing clinics, this service will be provided by Stanley practice nurses.
Following on from the Physiotherapist in practice sessions, we can now offer ‘Physio 1st’ appointments. This is to manage conditions such as: acute muscular / skeletal problems. To access these appointments you would be triaged by Stanley practice nurse.
We now have pharmacists working in the practice. They will undertake medication queries, update repeat medications from hospital discharge letters and complete medication reviews.
6)  Date and Time of next meeting / To be confirmed. As usual, letters will be sent approximately 2 weeks before the meeting date.

Medicines Optimisation Team gave a brief overview of their role and encouraged questions from the group.

Saieeda Sanglay – Pharmacist & Jocelyn Egan - Specialist Pharmacy Technician

From Wakefield CCG Medicines Optimisation Team attended to give a talk about their role within the practice and the wider Clinical Commissioning Group.

“The Medicines Optimisation Team offer advice, support and information to GPs and staff to ensure patients and their healthcare providers get the best possible well-being outcomes from their prescription medicines. The majority of their work in practice is around safe and effective prescribing.

The team are also highly involved in local and national campaigns and strategies such as the Antibiotic campaign and the recent Paracetamol campaign. Future work will focus on a Waste Medicines strategy”.
