Swim News – Term 2 2011
Hi everyone –
I’m a bit ahead of myself with a newsletter for Term 2 but there are a couple of dates to diarise for early in the term (3 and 31 May – see below for further details) and some timely reminders......
DATES TO REMEMBER
NO SWIMMING 3 MAY
Navy will be using the pool on the afternoon/evening of Tuesday 3 May so there will be nojunior or evening masters sessions that day. I’ll email a reminder closer to the time.
AGM – 25 MAY
We have set a date for this year’s AGM – 25 May. David Claridge will send out further emails but please reserve the date to attend and support in running the club.
HOLIDAY TIMETABLE – EXTRA BUDDY SWIMMING HOURS
Don’t forget we are currently in the school holidays (until 29 April) which means the following changes to our regular timetable:
*No Orca classes (orcas can swim with masters) – this means that Monday, Wednesday and Friday 6-7am are available for uncoached/buddy swimming.
*Junior combined classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 5.20-6.20pm.
BIRTHDAY GIRL DAWN!
This is the year for coaches reaching a significant age and today is Dawn’s day! She will be overjoyed to be reminded of it in her increased coaching stints at the beginning of the term (when she, Marjo and Brad cover for Bevan as he competes in St George, Utah Ironman on 7 May).
BUDDY SWIMMING
If you are on our wait list for coached sessions or know of swimmers keen to join up with the club, a great option is to join as a “buddy” swimmer – see the website for details -
JUNIORS – BEHAVIOUR AT GATE
Recently the navy guards have had to speak to some of the waiting juniors. Please remind your junior swimmers that while they wait for coaches to escort them to the pool they are NOT to play on or with the navy fixtures including the gun.
ALSO JUNIORS – PLEASE BRING *GOGGLES* (fitting), TOGS, FINS.
Aqualine ( is a locally owned business which offers a discount to club members on all swim gear.
SWIM CAPS $10
DSC logo swim caps are available for purchase poolside for $10 each.
EVENTS: CHELTENHAM SWIM /JUNIOR CARNIVAL
During the first term we successfully ran the Cheltenham Swim and our junior carnival. Results and photos can be accessed on the website.
