ACONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE INTERSECTION LOCATED AT THE JUNCTURE OF CAMP ROAD AND DILLS BLUFF ROAD ON JAMES ISLAND IN CHARLESTON COUNTY “LEONARD BLANK INTERSECTION” AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS INTERSECTION THAT CONTAIN THIS DESIGNATION.
Whereas, Mr. Leonard Blank is a native of Charleston County who grew up in the Windermere community West of the Ashley River. He currently resides in the Clark’s Point subdivision and has lived on James Island for over fortyfour years; and
Whereas, he is a fouryear United States Air Force Veteran who retired after twentynine years of service at the Charleston Naval Shipyard as a Service Group Superintendent; and
Whereas, Mr. Blank is married to the former Pam Schumacher and together they are the proud parents of three children and have six grandchildren; and
Whereas, he was elected and served two terms on the James Island Town Council. He is currently the chairman of the James Island Planning and Zoning Committee; and
Whereas, Mr. Blank is a faithful member of Christ St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; and
Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to recognize Mr. Leonard Blank’s unselfish service to his county and commitment to his community by naming an intersection in his honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly request that the Department of Transportation name the intersection located at the juncture of Camp Road and Dills Bluff Road on James Island in Charleston County “Leonard Blank Intersection” and erect appropriate markers or signs at this intersection that contain this designation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
