News
Shipping on 1 Mar:
· Wings & ITE#1 were shipped to CERN.
· Rails, Membranes & Shunt Shields.
· Miscellaneous fixtures.
Heater Pads:
· Peter is looking at 2 cm gap and 4 mm bulge.
Heater Pad Wiring:
· To be completed this week.
Membranes:
· Martin’s tests indicate there may well be stresses. Consider adding folds into Rear Membrane and adding washers to allow slippage past bolts on SC.
· Will need to produce some Membranes for future access (opening SCT will destroy current Membranes). Wait and see how integration of current design works. Former/tool needs to be remade to allow for larger holes.
Stiffener:
· Need around end-April.
· Start with left & right parts.
Martin’s first attempt to produce CF-foam sandwich for C&G Joinery failed due to problems with vacuum-bagging.
· John needs to revisit to allow for Bubbler for top & bottom parts.
Fittings & Fixtures:
· Inserts for Rear Flange (3 types) – on order; no rush.
· For ITE fixtures, Martin will demonstrate a proposed crimping tool for use with washers.
RS Assembly
1. Degrease Rear Wing – by 10 Mar.
2. Add Litz wires to Rear Wing, according to TD-1012-732#3 – by 10 Mar.
3. Cover holes with ³1 patches of Al-Kapton and Araldite 2011 – by 10 Mar.
4. Modify 1st Rear Membrane: holes, slits, creases – 13/14 Mar.
5. Modify 1st Foam Pad – 13/14 Mar.
6. Assemble RS Assy – 14/15 Mar.
7. Modify 1st Front Membrane: creases – 16 Mar.
8. Modify 2nd Rear & 2nd Front Membrane and 2nd Foam Pad, as time allows; although may wish to await successful installation of 1st RS Assy.
Priorities (in order of importance)
John
1. Picture of which holes on Rear Wing need to be covered; agreed by Jason – to send to CERN.
2. Heater Pad locations & wiring; sign-off sheets (esp for Rear Support Assy) – by 10 Mar.
3. While complete Heater Pads, check clearance with TRT and bend radius on OTE tabs.
4. Update of Rear Support Assembly drawings.
5. Revisit Stiffener/Spider for Brian – 1 day; wb 13 Mar.
6. Communicate to Patrick about ITE mods:
· Mods for N2 delivery in Clamps
· Holes in Flange for inserts (or otherwise) – Martin to demonstrate crimper.
7. Release drawings.
8. Produce Inventory of what is still to be sent.
9. Complete Stiffener drawings (top/bottom): need holes for bubbler & check aperture for pipes; get made in Workshop.
10. Foam in-fill pieces for STFT around Cooling: make mods for DCS; get made in Workshop.
11. Copy drawings to CDD.
Martin
1. Prepare to visit CERN; post tools.
2. Complete write-up for stress-relief of G&S Membranes.
3. Prepare for tests of Helicoflex seals.
4. Tool for lifting Front Membranes.
Stephen
1. Copy Mins to MDG/TD-010.
Valencia & CERN
1. Return Foam & Cu-Kapton (probably) when finished.
Helicoflex Seals:
· WS skimming surfaces of connectors.
· Checked Leak Detector – missing a filter – Leybold will send 6 Mar.
· Need He.
· Need regulators.
· Have Mike’s instruction.
· Need torque settings from Ian.
Task List for Thermal Enclosure
6 Mar 06
OTE
· Drawing [JN, by 4 Mar; checked by Steve Carr]
· Gasket design [JN, wb 7 Mar]
· Procure materials [JN,PF]
· Dry Airex
· Alochrome or Ni-plate for Al [observe Barrel]
· Manufacture CF Flanges & Ultem Inserts
· Tests
o Test stiffness and deformation.
o Test with Short Test Cylinder (STC), by putting some simple adjustable rails on.
o Test a prototype OTE band on End-cap using production Rails; check Service clearance.
RTE
· Drawings & Work Instructions (understand how to make holes)
· Ship Airex & Kapton to CERN – don’t ship Rear Support Panel (need to modify for Alignment targets)
