APPLICATIONS:
Four teams had applied to join the League next season – Burton, Windermere, Lindale and Subscription. After much discussion, it was decided that Division 5 would be divided into 2 with 9 teams in each section. These would start 2 weeks later and finish 2 weeks earlier. This would be tried for a season and addressed again next year. The new Division 5 would either be called North and South or perhaps Reds and Blues with promotion 2 up and 2 down to form a new Division 6 in 2015. This was accepted by Subscription, seconded by Netherfield and carried unanimously.
NOTICES OF MOTION:
Constitution amendment
Cl. The League shall be called ‘The Kendal & District Bowling League’ and shall be affiliated to the B.C.G.B.A. The objectives of the League shall be to further competitive crown green bowls with a league limit of six divisions and 72 teams.
This was accepted by Holme, seconded by Burneside and carried unanimously.
KENDAL & DISTRICT SUPER LEAGUE 32 COMPETITION.
Alan Gilpin gave an explanation of this competition which is being sponsored by FMB. It was hoped that this would become an annual event but would be piloted for 2014 and then assessed at the end of next season. He explained that young bowlers could watch and learn the game from experienced players. A nominal fee would be charged to play in it which would create a prize fund. No player would play on their own green. He is looking for venues for this event from clubs with good parking facilities and good green conditions. This proposal was accepted by Netherfield and seconded by Holme. The motion was carried with 21 in favour and the first match will take place on Sunday 13th April. Offers to host were received from Burneside, Hale and Netherfield.
PLAYERS’ DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Host clubs for this event were agreed as follows:-
Division 1: Hawkshead
Division 2: Windermere
Division 3 Lindale
Division 4: Arnside
Division 5: Netherfield
The Secretary thanked all the clubs for volunteering to host these events.
SUBSCRIPTION LEVELS FOR 2014:
As the League accounts are in a very healthy state, subscriptionswill remain at the same level for 2014.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS :
The Secretary reminded all clubs that they should have a Child Protection policy which the League should also have, and she would attend to this.
The Chairman raised the question of measuring on the green which has caused him some concerns from time to time. Club members should either measure or mark and it is the captains’ responsibility to ensure that this is done correctly.
The Chairman thanked everyone for comingand wished them a very Happy Christmas and a safe journey home.
The meeting closed at 8.40 p.m.
