POSITION OVERVIEW
The Lines Overhead and Underground (Planned) Maintenance Section of the Service Delivery Branch is responsible for managing delivery of commercially competitive, effective and efficient planned overhead (‘OH’) and underground (‘UG’) network maintenance, as programmed by the Works Enablement Branch. The Section’s execution of the programmed maintenance activities ensures that the infrastructure is maintained to required standards. The Section’s work activities include pole and line inspection, pole and line maintenance and/or repair/replacement, and vegetation management.
Along with other Sections within the Branch, this Section plays a major role in ensuring the ongoing daily efficient functioning of ActewAGL’s electricity supply network.
The Team Leader role is accountable for the field supervision of work and staff, and for their performance and work completion on tasks assigned to a Team. The position is vital in promoting and maintaining high standards of safety, work execution, and personal and team behaviour in the conduct of daily work.
Through proactive team leadership, this position ensures that work allocated is completed to the standards required, and in accordance with safe work processes and behaviours to ensure the health and safety of all persons on site. Through a continuous focus on high standards of work behaviour and task completion, the Team Leader role is responsible for ensuring that work is achieved efficiently and that safe work processes are not violated or compromised, deliberately or unwittingly.
Through accurate and timely reporting of material usage, incidents, job completion and team attendance, the role ensures that the Team Coordinator has good information by which to review/adjust work planning and scheduling, and any other support required for the Team.
ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
The Team Leader Pole Replacement is responsible for a small multi-disciplinary team whose job is to complete pole replacement tasks as assigned by the team coordinator. The Team Leader is responsible for the coordination and control of the specific job assigned, and the worksite.
The Team Leader role requires a skill set encompassing relevant technical expertise and field experience, as well as the personal task management and people leadershipskills to model and support performance achievement and safety outcomes.
SECTION STRUCTURE
This position sits within theLines Overhead and Underground (Planned) Maintenance section. Reporting relationships are identified below. The size of Teams may vary from time to time as determined by the Team Coordinator/Works Coordinator.
RESPONSIBILITIES
For all Team Leader positions
- Manage site, safety, and all resources, taking accountability for completion of tasks assigned
- Lead daily start up and tool box site meetings
- Communicate and implement ActewAGL’s HSE policy and procedures
- Recognise and respond to performance matters, recording and reporting these up to Team Coordinators
- Manage quality of work
- Complete and submit reports on job details, including Work As Executed reports, costs and variances
- Contribute to the development of work/safety instructions
- Implement and apply required site management procedures
- Model and promote positive team and workplace/worksite behaviours in respect of safety, quality, and work culture
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to team members
- Develop good working relationships with other Team Leaders to facilitate information exchange, problem solving and professional support
- Work in with other teams

SKILL SETS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
The Team Leader role requires a skill set encompassing relevant technical expertise and field experience, as well as the personal task management and people leadership skills to model and support performance achievement and safety outcomes.
Qualifications required: / Minimum Certificate III Line Worker or equivalent qualificationsTechnical experience: / Experience in working on construction and/or maintenance of electrical overhead networks; demonstrated high level technical expertise in field; demonstrated capacity to supervise and lead people and teams in technical area
Safety management / Able to identify, promote and implement safe work practices in a team environment.
People management / Able to communicate effectively required tasks, performance standards, work methods and rules, as well as attendance and behavioural standards required at the work place/worksite. Able to raise work performance/attendance issues and elicit reasons/responses to the matters raised.
