Grading Policy: You will be graded in four categories as follows:
Homework: 20%
Quizzes: 10%
Tests: 40%
Final: 30%
Homework: Homework will be assigned and collected weekly on Monday at the beginning of class. Homework should be neat, organized, and stapled in the top left corner. Not all problems will be graded. Completing the assignment will be part of your grade, however. You may turn in up to two assignments late.
Tests and Quizzes: Exams will be held on approximately the following dates:
Quiz on Review Material: Friday, August 24
Exam 1 (Chapters 1-5): Wednesday, September 19
Quiz on Sections 6.1-6.3: Monday, October 1
Exam 2 (Chapters 6 and 7.1-7.2): Wednesday, October 17
Exam 3 (Chapters 7-8): Monday, November 12
Final: Monday, December 10 (set by the University)
The quizzes are each worth 5% of your grade. I will drop your lowest exam.
While scientific calculators are allowed, no graphing calculators are allowed per department policy. Additionally, cell phones, iPods, mp3 players, personal computers, or other electronic devises will not be permitted during exams.
Make-up policy: Missed exams will be given a zero. If you have a legitimate reason for missing an exam (school-sponsered sporting activity, severe injury or illness, etc.), talk with me before the examand other arrangements may be made.

Supplemental Instruction
A Supplemental Instruction (SI) component is provided for all students who want to improve their understanding of the material taught in this course. SI sessions are led by a student who has already mastered the course material and has been trained to facilitate group sessions where students can meet to compare class notes, review and discuss important concepts, develop strategies for studying, and prepare for exams. Attendance at SI sessions is free and voluntary. Students may attend as many times as they choose. SI sessions begin the second week of class and continue throughout the semester.
