Integrated Math 1 – Summer School 2016 Syllabus

Welcome and welcome back! The following is a review of key points to remember.
Course Description:
This Integrated Math 1 course includes standards from the conceptual categories of Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. These concepts are an important foundation for success in higher mathematics courses. This is a State of California required class and must be successfully completed in order to receive a high school diploma.
Supplies to be brought to each class meeting:
v Textbooks - McDougal Littell: Algebra 1 and Pearson: Mathematics I – Bring the Algebra 1 book every day. The Math book will be brought occasionally.
v Graph paper notebook (~120 pages), 3-ring binder with lined paper and graph paper
v Pencils, at least 2 sharpened, pens, highlighters, ruler, glue stick, dry erase marker, scientific calculator (required, $9.99 at Walmart)
Homework – Completion of homework is vital to your success:
v Homework assignments are due the next class meeting. No late work will be accepted.
v Include proper heading in top right hand corner: your name, date, period, section #, page and problems assigned.
v All homework must be completed in pencil with all work shown to receive full credit (3 points – unless otherwise noted).
Absences:
v If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed and make sure you make it up for credit. This must be done no later than one class meeting after the day you return. Please come in or email me to find out what you missed.
v Summer school has a strict 6 hour absence policy. If a student is out for more than 6 hours, he or she will be dropped from summer school. Every tardy accounts for 15 minutes of lost time.
Grading Policy – grades can be accessed via “Q” online:
v Tests/Quizzes/Performance Tasks – 60%, Homework/Notes/Participation – 40%
v Grading Scale: A: 90-100%, B: 80-89%, C: 70-79%, D: 60-69%, F: below 60%
Classroom Guidelines and Parent/Guardian and Student Responsibilities:
v Have good attendance – it is essential that you work together to make sure this happens.
v Students should be in their assigned seat ready to work when the bell rings to start class until the end of the period.
v No eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the classroom.
v Electronic devices (iPods, MP3 Players, Cell Phones) must be turned off and out of sight. 15 min penalty if this rule is broken.
v Please do not call or text your student during class – call front office in case of emergency.
v No “socializing” during lectures and be willing to participate in class.
v No profanity, put-downs, or other disrespectful behavior to teacher or classmates.
*Failure to comply with any of the above may result in a detention or consultation.
