PUBLIC COMMENT
None
OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussion of Budget Items
- 25 cents from fee on water bill voted down
- Council approved $9000 of State Revenue Sharing to go to Parks and Recreation general fund. This can be used for rehabilitation, new improvements etc.
- Will have a line item in the budget
- Vice-Chairperson Peterson moved to request treasury report of Parks SDC’s in leu of balances prior to each monthly meeting. BM Martin seconded. All in favor.
2. Disc Golf
- $2000 in funding from the City was approved
3. Shelter at FoxPark – Ford Foundation
- $15000 in SDC’s were approved
- $5000 from Sally Fox
4. Ivor Davies construction on Covered Shelter – Construction has begun!
5. Contract revision with the rotary for parking
- Council approved a variation to the contract previously agreed upon without Parks board knowledge. Changes to include revision of entire Parks and Recreation Master Plan prior to any funds exchanging between the Rotary Club to the Buckaroo and the City for parking. Parks Board members are disappointed that council granted the Rotary’s request without further discussion on the ramifications of doing such.
- Contract was signed prior to our monthly meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Presentation on ClarkPark improvement possibilities
- Remove horseshoe pits or update
- Update picnic tables
- Additional softball field
- Down Spout on concession stand
- Benches replaced on softball field
- Bark replaced on play area
2. Grant Sharp
- Have left several messages to attend meetings and still no response.
- Will send formal letter of request.
3. Excessive Absenteeism by Parks Board Members
- Non-voting member Mitch Magenheimer has violated the unexcused absence rule. The Parks Board would like a response on how this will be handled.
4. Work Release Program
- ClackamasCounty will bring prisoners out to work for $400/day for the work.
- Provide the City with a list of projects that work groups can do for in-kind work.
5. Tree Ordinance
- BM Flintjer will represent the Parks Board at the tree ordinance meeting on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 6:30PM at City Hall.
- Vice-Chairperson Peterson suggested that we make a list of trees that we want to protect and put it in writing.
- Staff Representative Potter made note of the importance placed on code being very specific so that it can’t be tampered with and so that people cannot find a loop hole around it.
