POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Part Time General Maintenance Attendant

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Facilities

GENERAL SUPERVISOR: Parks and Facilities Manager

SALARY GROUP: CUPE Local 1813

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities and Parks Manager, the General Maintenance Attendant is responsible for building maintenance and custodial duties, inspection, opening and closing of Kearney Community Centre, the ice rink at the Lions Park and parks and outdoor facilities within the Town of Kearney.

Primary Responsibilities

The General Maintenance Attendant routinely carries out the primary maintenance and custodial duties for the efficient and effective operation of the of the Kearney Community Centre, Lions Park Ice Rink and Parks and Outdoor Facilities

· General repairs, maintenance and custodial duties of parks and facilities

· Opening, closing and cleaning of parks and facilities

· Ground maintenance and lawn care

· Daily inspection of parks and facilities

· Keeping records such as daily activity reports, statistics, incidents

· Making ice by flooding and/or spraying as temperature and weather conditions permit as well ensuring ice is free of debris and snow and is safe and usable by public

· Scheduling use of ice

· Posting appropriate signs

· Ensuring rules and regulations for Occupational Health and Safety are followed

· Other duties as required

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

· Proven skill and ability to perform facility maintenance “Renovations and improvements as required”

· Demonstrated ability in performance of custodial duties

· Knowledge in ice making and maintenance and operational policies and procedures

· Knowledge in parks and lawn maintenance

· Current Ontario Driver’s License Class G

· Initiative and judgment; public profile requires good communication and public relations skills

· Ability to perform manual labour duties and to perform the physical job requirements.

· Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations

Work Conditions

· Works under the direction of the facilities and Parks Manager

· Must be able to work flexible hours/days

· Lifting/Heavy lifting

· Works in an outdoor environment including exposure to inclement weather

· Deals with the public

· Work is subject to scheduled deadlines

WAGE CLASSIFICATION: General maintenance Attendant – Part Time: $16.21 (as of May 1, 2014)
