A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of A. H. "Hardy" Jones.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to A. H. "Hardy" Jones, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Hardy Jones was born on August 2, 1923, a native of Morgan County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Rowan County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 1, 2003; and
WHEREAS, Hardy Jones was the loving son of the late Walter D. "Doc" and Frances Elizabeth Prater Jones, and he was also preceded in death by a brother, Walton Jones, and a sister and brother-in-law, Leatrice and Cecil Jackson; he was the devoted husband of Margaret Pelfrey Jones; he was the adored father of a son, Walter Douglas Jones and his wife Jackie; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Derrickson and her husband Dr. Ralph Derrickson, all of Morehead; and he was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Justin Vince Derrickson and his wife Leslie, Brian Scott Derrickson, and Casey Alan Derrickson, all of Morehead, and Amy Leigh Jones of Bowling Green; he was the loving uncle of three nephews, Gary Lee Jackson of Ada, Ohio, Andrew Walton Jones of Paintsville, and Cecil Lynn Jackson of Columbus, Ohio, and a loving niece, Earlene Gayle Reed of Caney; and he also leaves behind two loving sisters, Mrs. Wanda Reed and her husband Earl of Caney, and Mrs. Berneaze Wallace and her husband Harold of Lexington; and
WHEREAS, Hardy Jones was an esteemed member of the Rowan County community where he was a devout member of the Baptist Church for over 52 years; he was a successful businessman and was retired from the Tennessee Gas Transmission Company after 35 years of service, and he assisted his son and wife in the family business, "DJ's" Clothier for Men, for over 18 years; and
WHEREAS, Hardy Jones was an active and involved citizen and a highly respected member of his community where he was a member of the Rowan County Water District as a consultant and assisting engineer; he was a member of The Citizens Bank Board of Directors and the Rowan County Public Library Board; he served two terms on the Rowan County Board of Education; he served on the board of the Grayson Rural Electric Cooperative Association for 24 years, also serving as its vice president; he was a member of the ASCS, the Rowan County Long Range Planning and Ethics Committee, and he was the East Kentucky Statewide Representative to the Kentucky Rural Electrification Corporation in Louisville; he was a member of the Farm Services Administration, and he was a 25-year member of the Rowan County Water Board where he served as secretary to the board; he was a loyal Republican and a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge and El Hasa Temple; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Hardy Jones has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of bereavement upon the passing of A. H. "Hardy" Jones, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of A. H. "Hardy" Jones.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Walter Blevins for presentation to the family of A. H. "Hardy" Jones.
